Not one, not two but several upcoming projects could feature the Gotham villainess, Harley Quinn. In a recent interview with MTV News, Suicide Squad star, Margot Robbie, gives a little more insight :
"I’ve been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now,” she said, adding that her take would give the wacky DC villainess the “girl gang” she was so desperately missing in Suicide Squad. “I want to see her with other women,” Robbie said. “I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. I was like, ‘She needs her girlfriends.'”
Girlfriends she will definitely get, as WB has plans for Gotham Sirens, which will feature Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn and joined by other " bad girls". It remains to be seen who will join Robbie in the film, which she is also producing, but Catwoman and Poison Ivy are strong possibilities, among others. Robbie also went on to state that several versions are being worked on to determine the best as they move ahead
Other upcoming projects for the DC Universe, featuring Harley Quinn, includes Suicide Squad 2 which will be written and directed by Gavin O'Connor, a Harley-Joker love story and a standalone Harley Quinn movie. WB definitely seems to be making an effort in producing films that can stand on their own, without having to share the same universe or storyline. These films can then go on to form their own franchises, expanding the DC Universe as a whole.
