The animated series version is excellent! But he's been ill served in live action so far.
Indeed. I re-watched that episode last night, and it's definitely my favourite of Two-Face portrayal. The tragedy of Harvey Dent is brought across. He's friends with Bruce, something TDK didn't truly convey. He had issues all along with duality, not just being brought out via the accident. And obviously he's a rough customer whose temper you would be scared of.
Did you miss the part of TDK where Dent kidnaps the mental patient and tortures him?  I thought that scene conveyed his pre-accident dark side.  :-\
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

It was one scene, and given the circumstances I didn't blame him for behaving in such a way. It wasn't really 'out of the blue'.

In The Animated Series, Harvey flies off the handle in public situations when it's not warranted, the function with Bruce being a key example.

The Animated Series gave a much, much more in depth characterisation which made his unhinged turn believable.

He was grasping at straws trying to find his girlfriend but he didn't actually intend to harm the thug he kidnapped. In his shoes, I think a lot of people would've done the same thing or worse... and I wouldn't call that much of a dark side.

He was applying torture to a mentally ill man who had nothing on Rachel's whereabouts.  I'd call that a 'dark side'.  It's certainly not the type of behaviour I'd want to emulate.

Then we disagree. Harvey in TDK was adapting to the situation. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now. He was desperate. In BTAS, he's snapping at the drop of a hat. Very different circumstances.

Torture is sticking razor blades under somebody's finger nails to obtain information they would otherwise never divulge. Pretending to hold someone hostage simply to rescue somebody is not, never has been and never will be "torture".

Then again, I get the impression that you might be afraid to know how far I'd be willing to go if I was in Dent's shoes.

I think of it like this. If someone had kidnapped Grace, BTAS Harvey would've been absolutely scary in terms of what he would do to anybody he thought was standing in his way.

Yo silver
You ether die a trilogy or live long enough to see yourself become batman & robin

I'm not scared of the truth.  I'm well aware of how dark some people's souls are.  If you want to indulge how far you'd be willing to go, be my guest.  Just pray that if you ever do commit a crime you get the same jury as Fred Zimmermann.  ;)

You mean George?

Either way, I'm not too concerned about it. I live in a state where self-defense and gun laws are pretty lax. Those facts alone tend to keep most of the riffraff in line. For everything else, there's my shotgun collection.
