Sadly, for some unknown reason, he committed suicide in 1991. He jumped from the eighth floor of a parking structure in Los Angeles.

Indeed.

The man's work was genius. Imagine what else he could have done in the 18 years since his death. Nothing short of a tragedy.

No way - that sucks.  I used to have a 2page spread from a newpaper. It was an interview with him when B&R came out - wish I could find it.

Let's also not forget Shirley Walker.  She too was involved with Batman 1989.  It was her that helped Danny with additional orchestrations and it was her who conducted for London's 110 member symphony orchestra.
