With Bob, we basically see what Jack used to be. And with The Joker standing next to him, what he turned into. When The Joker looks at Bob, he's looking at his reflection in a sense. His past self. When he turned into The Joker, he largely left that all behind.

I don't think Bob was ever as evil as Jack, either before or after he became The Joker.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

I don't think so, either. Bob was a cool headed backup when Jack pushed the limits. Jack still threw his weight around harder than Bob pre-accident. And Jack had the signs of a nut when he giggled at Eckhart. Bob wasn't a nut as far as I can tell at any point. But Bob does serve as an example of Jack's previous life, which The Joker truly superceded. Bob is closer to Jack's old life than to The Joker. The Joker wasn't the typical gangerster. Jack's current state was moved up to level two. Everything about him was exagerrated. So, in a sense, I see shooting Bob at the parade as officially cleansing his old life. Probably talking gibberish here, but it sounds alright.

Aside from making a new thread, I'll revive this wonderful thread, detailing the life and death of the one and only Robert "Bob" Hawkins.

Let me just say that he got stuff done. Doesn't matter the role. If the Joker said "jump," he'd say "how high?" His death was rather abrupt and saddening, but it just goes to show how crazed Jack has become (though he does acknowledge his actions immediately after). Now, people may see Bob as a coward for running, logically, would you rather have your ass handed to you by Batman? Speaking of which, Bob DID fight Batman in that deleted scene, which I don't know about you, but I'm dying to see it in its finished form. Of course, Batman isn't phased by his attack, but Bob gets away.

Now, here's a topic that's probably been brought up before, but was that Bob with Jack during Bruce's flashback? Signs point to 'yes,' but there's been no official indication, only being referred to as 'Other Mugger.' Some even label him as Joe Chill, but that's kinda pointless, since Jack took that role.

Finally, Bob definately deserved to be a video game boss. There were MANY versions of the Batman video game, and out of all of them, the goon who fights with the scimitars is the most popular one (for good reason), and even Lawrence makes an appearance in two of the games. The Genesis version actually closesly follows the plot, but in addition to Lawrence and the Sword Guy (they can't give him a name?), the other bosses are generic Joker goons. Lame. It's worth noting that Bob does appear in a few of the PC ports... but not really. Some of the common level enemies are clearly modeled after Bob, but it loses all effect when there's three Bobs on the screen at once.
