"You know, I don't just light trees.  I fight crime as well!"
..."The bullet fires and then I pull the trigger, right?"
 ;)

:D :D :D

BTW catwoman, what happened to Alfred?

chapter 3

"well here he comes now, the darling of gotham city, ladies and gentlemen, CHIP SHRECK!"

the crowd assembled outside the gotham ballroom cheered wildly as chip and his fiancee, maggie burton, stepped out of their limo and onto the red carpet on the gotham ballroom. the gala that everyone and their sister (except for bruce wayne and selina kyle of course) were attending was a political fundraiser, but it had all the glitz and glamour of a movie premiere. ronald pierce, a lifelong friend of chip's who was seeking gotham's mayoral seat, was the benecifiary of all this. as with everything else in the city, though, chip schreck was the star of the show.

"mr. shreck! mr. shreck!" one of the reporters called out. "when might we see one of these fundraisers for you and your political aspirations?" "well first off," chip said with a sly grin, "mr. shreck was my father. i'm just plain ol' chip!" he gave a wink that made every female in the crowd sigh and every one of their companions roll their eyes. "secondly, i HAVE no political aspirations. i simply want to run my family's company and that's all there is to it." he looked at maggie, then at her stomach. she was both very pretty and very pregnant.

"well, not ALL there is, but you get the idea."

the crowd laughed good naturedly, but the next question was anything but good natured. "chip, why don't you tell bruce wayne what you think of him, right here, right now, once and for all?" "well, i think everyone knows there isn't a lot of love lost between our families. my grandfather and bruce's father didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. the wayne family has always had that stubborn nature about them, and ultimately i think it caused the city a lot of problems. the city's loyalty to that family hasn't been rewarded. i've reached out to bruce, trying to bury the hatchet, but he gave me that cold shoulder. thats fine though. i've got a lot better things to worry about, and i'm sure he does too, like what sports car to run into a tree or which bedroom to pass out drunk in."

there was a time when such remarks about bruce wayne were considered blasphemous. now the entire crowd roared in laughter. the media and gotham's higher ups were quite a fickle bunch.

finally, one reporter noted maggie's tummy. "so, when is maximillian the iii due?" "don't be so sure it isn't maxINE," maggie said with a smile. a daughter would have been the first female decendent of the shreck family since long before they immigrated to the united states from eastern europe. "well folks, lets get the party started!" chip declared, leading the crowd into the ball room for much wining and dining, not to mention wheeling and dealing.

as the gala went on, bruce wayne decided to take a drive. night rides in anything but the batmobile were rare if not all but nonexistent, but bruce needed to clear his mind. his beeper, which was linked to the batcave computers, would alert him if need for batman arose. driving through the residential district of gotham, he scanned the nice, quaint houses. "i would trade wayne manor for one of those," he thought to himself. bruce longed for the quiet, simple life. though he'd mostly stayed out of the public eye since alfred's death and his very public breakup with julie madison, his name was always there. he couldn't pick up a paper or watch the news without seeing a slam against him.

imagining himself in the front yard of one of the houses, tossing a baseball back and forth with a son while the smell of cookies that a wife and daugher were baking filling the air, bruce smiled for the first time in what seemed like years.

as he drove along, out of the inner city, he noticed a small cottage. the porch light and a light inside were burning. bruce decided that if he was going to become a simple folk, it might be a good start to see how the simple folk lived. he was going to introduce himself. he parked his ferrari behind a small chevrolet compact in the driveway, got out, and walked up to the porch. hesitating at first, not sure how he would greet the occupant, he finally rang the doorbell.

selina kyle opened the door.

Great chapter Catwoman.  Your best one yet!  Although I would have preferred the Shrecks to be German rather than Eastern European (unless you meant East Germany).

Anyway, facinating stuff so far...
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

yea east germany lol

Wow!

I loved how you gave Bruce a Ferrari, as I've always seen those cars to look like Keaton's batmobile. Nice touch. :)

Maggie Burton? Nice nod to Tim himself. Keep it up, as it's always getting better & better! 8)

Why?

What does Maggie Burton look like Catwoman?  Where is she from and what, if anything, does she do?   :)

i wasn't even thinking about tim burton when i wrote it. i was looking around my room and saw a little jeff burton nascar race car i have and said "BURTON!"  lol.

maggie is a name from another story i wrote, so is ronald pierce. uh, idk what she looks like. um, kind of pale, blonde, cute in the face, and pregnant.

i wasn't thinking about the batmobile when i gave him a ferrari either, i just gave him a sports car and i can't spell lambergini or whatever lol.

blah i thought that last line would have everyone watering at the mouth and TWO PEOPLE said anything?

damnit. >:(
