Hello there!
I just found this documentary called BATMAN- The Making of a Hero from 1989 on YouTube.
It's a Mindseye Films Production and was apparently aired in the U.K.

Enjoy!

Don't read this if you haven't watched it, and if you haven't watched it yet, go watch it now!
I loved this documentary! I found it while searching for Batman commercials on YouTube to post in this forum. Never saw it before.
As someone who grew up with Batman and is interested in filmmaking and has Tim Burton as a  filmmaker role-model I loved every minute of this. It sent shivers down my spine.
It was very exciting to watch and informative at the same time.
There were so many things in this documentary which I have never seen before.

I really hope that when WB releases BATMAN on Blu-Ray/ HD DVD they will acquire the rights to this documentary.

Yeah, thanks to Reevz!

There was more in that documentry than in the whole of the Batman SE DVD.

Watched it on YouTube a while back.
The B89 photos you refer to will soon be back in our hands.

All of that stuff that is posted on Youtube are from the DVD's that I circulated a few years back..the "Making of a hero" Documentary is something that I acquired from a collector in the UK in the late 90's...as far as I know the only other person who had their own copy was PJ Wares...this was the ad I made for it...

and the other stuff with the TV spots and are interview stuff was recorded by me back in the summer of 89..I video taped anything I could about the movie...then many years later I put it all on a DVD as the Video tapes were very worn..here's the ad I made for that one...

I had originally intended to sort of keep them exclusive to the Bat-forums, but so many people were interested in copies that I just decided to make them available to everyone...I also had the making of Batman Returns as well( the Bat, The Cat & The Penguin) but that was released on the SE DVD so I just stopped making them...there is still a bunch of stuff I remember seeing back in 89-90 that aired on TV that I unfortunately never got a chance to tape...there was an Arsinio Hall appearance that Michael Keaton did were Arsinio put on the Batman cowl..since he was on so late I never got a chance to see it but heard all about it the next day...there was also a really cool behind the scenes featurette on HBO that I never got a chance to tape either..it was really cool because they showed the stunt man( David Lea?) putting on the costume and also showed some quick takes with Keaton's "Let's get nuts" rant

not sure about the dvd in the link....but I'm willing to bet that it's both of DVD footage with the Bat, The Cat and the Penguin added as the "returns" footage

The sad thing is, Batman: The making of a hero was intended to be on the release of the SE DVD as it was submitted to the BBFC for certification http://www.bbfc.org.uk/website/Classified.nsf/0/754C1B48DE356E6D8025705400378D80?OpenDocument

Who knows why it was dropped at the last minute.
"Excuse me. You ever danced with the devil by the pale moonlight?"

Probably for the same reason U2's cool "Hold Me, Kiss Me, Thrill Me, Kill Me" Music Video wasn't on the Batman Forever DVD, copyright costs. However, this is just a random guess.
Hopefully the WB will include some more goodies for eventual High-Def releases.
