It's a great Batman film and my favorite. The Joker is arguably at his best. We even behold pre-Joker as a suave hitman! We also get a better glimpse into Bruce Wayne's motive for being Batman... this is the film that told the ESSENTIAL elements of how Batman began. MOTP is everything a Batman film needs to be: a detective story foremost. Although animated, and just under 80 minutes, it is PROFOUND. This isn't a hero toon for kids. This is a tragic look into death, loss, vengeance, love, and survival.

We shall discuss.
The B89 photos you refer to will soon be back in our hands.

I'll rank it a ten. For this to be an animated movie, it accomplished what most live action films cannot. I had the oppertunity to see it when it hit theatres, on the big screen, it was awesome. Ill try to give some more thoughts on the film a bit later, but MOTP is truly a classic.

Judging from my avvy... its easy to realise just how i feel about this animated batman!!

*allow me to gush for a min*

It is the best ever interpretation of batman to grace either the small or big screen!!!!!  ;)

And Mask of the phantasm is the best example of the crews excellence.

I'll miss you dad xx

This is an amazing movie.
Brilliant art directory and animation, great balance, marvelous music score by Shirley Walker, a great plot twists, action, suspense, drama, humor and a bombastic ending.
Everything just works perfectly in tune.
It shows just the right amount of iBruce Wayne's past and how he turned into Batman (even though it leaves out the actual murdering of his parents- which has been covered enough in the first movie and the series).

Hopefully the rumors about a Special Edition 2 Disc Release will finally turn out to be true.

It is a really great movie. The art direction was awesome & there are a few parts where they blended some 3D art with the 2D animation & it's seamless/perfect.

Later they did "Subzero" which I really love but it seems to get dissed a lot, not sure why.

I just watched MotP yesterday (last day of my holidays) and I was amazed that I had forgotten just how good it was - I hadn't watched it in a while.

I had also forgotten about scenes in it were very close to what were in Begins.

It really nailed Batman for me - someone socially awkward and obsessed.  A great companion piece to Burton's flicks.

I would rate Mask Of The Phantasm a excellent 10 out of 10. It's just a crystal masterpiece. The animation is still holds up to this very day and
the music...especiall Tia Carrere's love song..."I Never Even Told You."
That song really brings love to the story. ;D

I am Vengence,I Am The Night....

A solid 10 from me. Definitely not to be overlooked due to being animated, this film is Batman through and through. This one sits proudly in my collection.

I love this film with a passion, it never gets old, I miss when animated Batman could be for kids and still be dark, gritty and violent.

I have given a name to my pain, and it is BATMAN.

Yep.

A question, what happened to his batwing that he essentially abandoned on top of that building?

And that smoke thing that the Phantasm could do, it wasn't really magical stuff was it? Surely not, because she vanished from all sight, especially at the end with Joker.
