I said "Crap" meaning its redesign of the characters. The Penguin and the Joker in particular looked really bad, and while the male characters were bigger and bulkier to the point of parody, almost all of the women looked like 12 year old girls, like Poison Ivy or Harley or whatever, and Catwoman was a black dot. :)

Now I get what you were saying.

Yeah, the Penguin was really disappointing w/ that whole "I'm a legitimate businessman" crap. The DeVito Penguin design he had before was MUCH better! I mean, he wasn't 100% DeVito in personality, but he definitely was a misfit in society, mixed w/ his personality from the pre-DeVito days.

As for the Joker, his design is much better than the stupid bondage look he had in the Batman Beyond movie. :P But other than that, I like his look in B:TAS the best, w/ his Justice League design in 2nd place.

The female designs were good, but I wished that Catwoman's costume was more elaborate.

Some of the other male characters weren't that bad, but could've been better. Mr. Freeze's face was too thin, Two-Face's right side had an unnecessary haircut & I wished that eye was blue, the Mad Hatter was too short & looked like a rodent, the Riddler wore spandex, was bald, & looked like he hadn't slept in weeks, & Bane sort of looked like a fetishist. That's all at the moment.

My favorite design was none-other than the Batman himself. As Bruce Wayne, he was a hunk of a businessman like in B:TAS, so that passes. I also like the new batsuit. I mean, his "New Look" batsuit from B:TAS is my favorite animated batsuit, but the way he looked in TNBA reminded me of the batsuit he first had in Batman:Year One. Overall, I liked it. 8)

By the way, were you referring to The Batman or both? If you meant The Batman, respond & I'll give you my opinion on the designs. ;)

I was talking about "The Batman", although it had interesting things (in the Batman Vs. Dracula movie the city reminds me of the Returns design, as well as the Victorian look they gave to the Penguin). Totally crappy things like an animalistic Joker can't save it, though.

Now that you mentioned Bane, yeah his look reminds me of a combination between a mexican wrestler and a fetishist, and I think in fact there are some bondage allusions in a two-part Bane episode (from the first TAS), with Robin shirtless and his hands tied above his head (and *why* his mask was not removed?) and a woman gleefully looking at him. Of course, it turns family entertainment again and he gets thrown to water to be rescued by Bats, but the "adult" joke is *there*. There's some other stuff like Harley's famous "Rev up your Harley" line etc. It's quite funny when you see these things in kid's shows. :)

Now, let's look at The Batman designs I didn't like too much or hated.

I don't like the Joker's hairstyle too much nor his strait jacket outfit. I would've preferred the generic Joker design & personality, like in the Bruce Timm cartoons.

Bane's outfit looked silly. I didn't like how his eyes or mouth weren't shown. When he uses the Venom, he becomes WAY TOO HUGE in muscle mass, even bigger than the way he does in the comics. Plus, his skin turns red & his eyes turn yellow. This is almost as bad as the way he had green skin in Batman & Robin. Ugh! :P

I didn't like how Poison Ivy was in Barbara Gordon's age group. I prefer her as a woman!

Mr. Freeze's outfit should've been blue & black.

I prefer a formal Riddler over a spandex Riddler.

Killer Croc should lose the vest & wear torn jeans.

I'm not too crazy about the short ears on Batman's cowl, nor the bat in the elipse. It's designed after the bat on the doors of the batmobile in the 60's show, which I absolutely don't like (don't bash me fans of the 60's show, I'm just stating my opinion as a Batman fan).

Batgirl's suit should've been gray & blue or black & yellow. This one is an homage to the 60's show. Is it ever going to stop!? ???

Bruce Wayne's hair should've been neat like it is in the comics.

The batmobiles should have more characteristics of the Keaton Mobile.

The Penguin's hair should've been black.

I like the Riddler w/ red-orange hair more than any other hair color. It fits him perfectly.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

This is one time we disagree. Loved Jokers look and the overall look of most characters in the "Gotham Knights" Series.

Gotham Knights? Don't you mean The Batman, b/c that what he's referring to. ;)

He spoke of the "New Adventures." That's Gotham Knights.

The redesigned Batman: the Animated Series was sometimes referred to as Batman:Gotham Nights. The designs on That show were hit and miss. Loved the new Scarecrow in that show, was indifferent to the Joker's new look, but I thought Two-Face looked even better in this series, with his black hair slicked back, and he looked more dangerous with the massive shoulders. I was completely disappointed with the Penguin in that show, though. I know Bruce Timm wanted to get away from the Devito design, but as a result Oswald lost his edge.

As for The Batman, I didn't like the short ears and almost cat-looking eyes on Batman's cowl, then I realized they were drawing him to look like a young Adam West. Compare the cowl shape on The Batman with the old show and you'll see what I mean. I didn't mind Batgirl in heer purple uniform, but I had to really get used to the smart-aleck portrayal. When Robin came on the show, I started to like Batgirl's character. She became more of an older sister and the dynamic just felt better.

I really liked Poison Ivy's design. That was the first one to really intrigue me, with her hair shaped like Roses and the leaf dress, I was getting tired of her one-piece leaf bathing suit from all of the other adaptations. The Riddler looked awful, but his episodes were some of the better ones. The Penguin, like Ivy, is one of my favorites. I just wish He didn't have the orange spiky hair.
Bane looked neat when he wasn't Hulk sized, Man-Bat looked awesome, but his episodes were terrible! The joke of having Scarface dressed like Al Pacino was nice, but why can't they have classic looking mobsters on the show?

I liked the bimbo look they gave Harley Quinn, it's too bad the voice imitation was so lame.

But my absolute least favorite design is the Joker. The dreadlocks and the barefeet... at least they gave him a suit fairly quickly so he wasn't Mr. Straightjacket all the time, but man was that stupid looking. The only aspect of his design I liked was the red eyes. If you applied that to the Mark Hammil Joker it's really creepy.

Speaking of the Joker, there was an episode set in the future with Batman looking like Frank Miller's, and Robin as Nightwing. My big beef though was the depiction of Barb as oracle in the wheel chair. What they are implying is that at some point, 'ala Killing Joke, Joker shot her in the kneecaps. This version of the Joker is completely incapable of being THAT vicious! He was in no way the "Moriarty" to Batman's "Holmes" on this show.

The title is really The New Batman Adventures, I don't know why there's an alternate title, it just makes no sense. I'm sure you've read my thoughts of the revamped Penguin. Scarecrow looked cool, but I liked his second costume in B:TAS the best. As for Two-Face, it looked like he had a haircut. I wasn't too thrilled about that. I prefer him w/ his hair slicked back, like in B:TAS.

The slits on Batman's cowl looked catlike? I think that goes toward TDK's cowl, & I don't see a comparison to West. Rather, the suit is somewhat of an homage to the "New Look" batsuit from B:TAS (my fav. animated batsuit BTW).

Bane looked goofy when he wasn't using the Venom. As for Ivy, I liked her other outfits better than this one, although it was cool. As for the Penguin, I think black is his hair color (also the hair color DeVito's Penguin had). i didn't like how the Riddler had long black hair & a spandex outfit, but it's better than some of the other interpretations of the costume. As for Scarface, he should've had the hairstyle Pacino had in Scarface.

I don't understand why they gave Joker those designs. I prefer the traditional Joker, not some barefoot guy in a straitjacket & jester hair.

There was another episode w/ Dick playing a game w/ himself as Nightwing in his original Nightwing costume from the 80's. I love how this show throws in things from the comics & other Batman related things.

The shape looked more catlike than other versions. Also the show came out before Batman Begins, so they weren't copying Nolan's look. The West connection is in the shape of the cowl. The nose is barely a point and the forehead is round like a dome with ears, for lack of a better discription.  I included the two picture because I don't describe things very well. Side by side it's obvious they aren't carbon copies, but I see some influence.
