True, but that image looks as if Batman has given Penguin the beating of his life. It paints an altogether different scenario as to that what happened in the film. He's towering triumphantly over him, pointing the umbrella down at his victim. The text 'Penguin gasps his last' - or whatever it reads, is quite suggestive to that as well. That's just how I interpreted it.

Yes, it does look a bit like that.  The idea of Batman beating the c**p out of a practically drowned, poisoned and bruised short, ungainly, physically untrained little man is kind of funny.  Especially when you add the idea of Batman 'towering triumphantly' over The Penguin like some smug, beaming high-school bully.    ;D

Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

As cool as these books are, they're probably one of the reasons why parents were mislead about the film being appropriate for kids. That and the Happy Meals, hotel sweepstakes and the half-hour TV program about the movie that was on during 'family hour'. The movie was rated PG-13 though ::)

yea and all the toys and toy commercials. hell i turned six that year and i was catwoman for halloween! even after my mom saw the movie!

we as a society are so damn stupid. lol.

Ain't that the truth. Those were probably the same parents who let their kids see the first film and that was no Disney movie either.

I with y'all. Tho my parents weren't exactly strict when it came to what I watched or the music I listend to. My dad was a Batman fan as a kid so it was only fitting I was as well. We used to watch the Batman TAS every evening when he got home (he used to record it on tv during the afternoon). And he was the one who bought me all the stuff i had/have. I wasn't fazed by the fact it ws PG-13, I just knew the characters, and all i cared about was Catwoman! even tho it was roughly 17 yrs ago, things weren't like they are today! Shock value was much more "shocking" back then. But thats what made those movies so great! Sadly, I think alot of the current movies, super hero or not lack that.

I agree, but I think we as a audience have become desensitized to that these days. Same goes for CGI. Instead of audiences trying to figure out exactly how a special effect was achieved, everyone now just assumes it's CGI. Since CGI has been used for so many different effects.

"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

I think the internet is another culprit. Not fifteen years ago, monthly magazines and stuff was your only source of news and updates, while crappy and easily damaged videotapes the only way to see the film. Now you can YOUTUBE everything while having some coffee in front of a monitor, and you just don't care ;D

Very true. The magic, mystic and reverence held for movies over the years has definitely been removed.

There was more hype and anticipation when you had to wait over 6 months for a VHS release, pirate videos where barely watchable and movies didn't appear on TV for a couple of years.

Is it better now? I really don't know, but Batman was definitely pivotal in the change.

I tried to draw some Batman coloring sheets for them but they're really bad (I'm not as artistic as I thought) I usually just go online and print out coloring pages from various sites, the one I'm using now is called supercoloring, if you're interested you can find the Batman coloring pages at the link behind, hopefully it will bring some fun hours for the kids :D
