"into the air...junior birdman....missed me!....yeahhhh watch me!"

scripted or weird but funny jack improv??

i say weird jack

"Junior Birdman" was always weird for me.

I think something was cut, Jack did some improv, and/or Jack forgot part of the line because the scripts all have Joker taunt Batman that he's gonna kill all these people at the parade (which is why he follows it up with, "Yeah!  WATCH ME!").
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...

It looks like Jack made it up:

EXT. AXIS CHEMICAL - WIDER

A CHOPPER ROARS up from behind a building.  LOUDSPEAKER
        BLASTS.

                                JOKER (V.O.)
Not even close!  NO CIGAR, fool!

ANOTHER ANGLE - CLOSE ON JOKER

from the open side door of a chopper.  He's delighted.

                                JOKER
I'm going to the festival.  You
really ought to show up.  I'm
gonna kill a thousand people an
                  hour until you do.

I love that moment in the film but I sometimes wish he would have said the "I'm gonna kill a thousand people an hour until you do" line, right before he says "yeah, watch me!" Jack was right to improvise and it's one of my favorite moments.

The improvisation is more 'jokey' and natural. The line of dialogue he was to say makes more sense, but it's a little stilted IMO.

It's "Junior Birdmen."

From what I understand (according to my folks), it's a reference to an old television series for kids that told the kids at home "Into the air, Junior Birdmen!"

I believe it was a reference to the original Thunderbirds TV show.
"There's just as much room for the television series and the comic books as there is for my movie. Why wouldn't there be?" - Tim Burton

aha i looked further into it - military or boy scout song - never understood it but it always seemed like a funny line - let's all learn this for the future 1989 batman fanatic get togethers

2) Into The Air Junior Bird Men
(Traditional Scout Song)

Into the air junior bird men.
Into the air upside down.
Into the air junior bird men
With your noses to the ground.

And when you hear the grand announcement
That your wings are made of tin,
You will know the junior bird men
Have turned their box tops in.

For it takes five box tops,
Four bottle bottoms,
Three wrappers,
Two labels,
And one thin dime.Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

Wow.  Great find.  You learn something every day.
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...

Did he say "missed me!" or "miss me?" like "My babies! Did you miss me?" but with pun intended?

"missed me", as he'd escaped the exploding chemical plant
