What Was Burton's Purpose In Forever?

Well yeah, what did he do, what was he in charge of in Batman Forever, I know he was the Producer, but I don't really know what that really is, lol

So what did he do, I'm sure if he could of, he would have pushed for the darker scenes to be added in

From what i have heard he was only credited as a tribute by Joel, and had no involvement in the movie itself.
Just as the doctor at arkham who was named Dr.Burton, Also a tribute to him.

A producer is usually someone who invests and put money into a film because they know its going to make money, and in BF's case it made quite a bit so im guessing Tim banked a little bit on the success of the film.

I've heard (and this is unsubstantiated) that on his episode of "The Directors," Tim said that he wrote the script treatment for BF, what kind of story points it should have, and that the Batchelors used it for their script, and that would explain why there are good bits of BF, if that's true.

There's a myth purpetuated that Tim doesn't care for stories or doesn't bother writing them or whatnot. It's not his favorite thing, but he does it. His story/rhyme books see to that. He wouldn't write a whole script, but he'd probably write a treatment.

I only ask because I thought I remembered hearing that he had a role as a special advisor or something of the sort. If that was the case you would tend to think a 'special advisor' would have to be on set to make his advisements.

Part of Tim's supposed statement on the Directors show was that he did the treatment and that was that. I think it was part of his meeting with Joel about the film that we know he had (as Burton said so on the BF SE DVD).

So he had one meeting with Joel and left the franchise. No need to show up on set. The credit was probably superfluous.
