Cheers, thecolorsblend. I'll look into them.

I'll pick up the collected graphic novel of 'Batman RIP' when that comes out too. In which I hear they are just resting the character for a year, in which he has a gand comeback at the end of next year. The final panel involves Batman and a helicopter, but Bruce's body is not shown.

The Dark Knight Returns
The Dark Knight Strikes Again
Collected Legends of The Dark Knight
Batman: The Movies

I have other books, but these are the only ones I would call graphic novels. My collection is so small . . .
Even the greatest masterpiece has its flaws.

Oh my god... next to you guys, I'm poor!  :P
Mines are:
The Killing Joke
The Dark Knight Returns
The Man Who Laughs
Hush
War On Crime
The Long Halloween
Only these... :-\
Batman Arkham Asylum: The Batman game the fans were waiting for.

My birthday is coming up, so I am going to treat myself to some graphic novels. I am looking for some suggestions of good ones. Any ideas?

I already have

TDKR
The Killing Joke
Knightfall 1 & 2
Knightsend
The Long Halloween
Strange Apparitions
A Death in the Family
Year One
Year Two

The be-all, end-all of elseworlds Batman tales.

Batman: Vampire. It's my favorite Batman story of all time, just behind KnightSaga.
"There's just as much room for the television series and the comic books as there is for my movie. Why wouldn't there be?" - Tim Burton

Oh, and also:

"Batman: Strange Apparitions" and its sequel "Batman: Dark Detective."

Both are by Steve Engalhart (writer) and the late Marshall Rogers (artist). The two, together, are widely considered "The definitive Batman." And the first one is one of the specific runs that Burton was given as inspiration for B89. Engalhart also wrote the script treatment for the film that became Sam Hamm's script. Rupert Thorne and Silver St. Cloud in the book basically become Grissom and Vicki in the film. The story content isn't necessarily the same, but the two TPBs are ABSOLUTELY the Batman that Burton put on screen in the first film (and for the most part, the second). They are absolutely of the same flavor, and that's why I love them so much.

I don't care what anyone says, Engalhart and Rogers' work will ALWAYS be the definitive Batman.

Batman: Hush Retruns
Arkham Asylum
Arkham Asylum Living Hell
Killing Joke
Dark Victory
Batman War Drums
Batman City Of Crime

Joker's Last Laugh
Batman Jekyll and Hyde

Is Hush good?
If you like overblown, overrated, masturbatory glorified fan fiction, yeah, Hush is awesome.
