Zack Snyder's other film coming out this year has its first teaser trailer released. Check it out.

Snyder was his own DP for this movie too. Sounds very exhausting.

As 'zombied' out as I currently am with anything related to Zombies/Dead ect, I can't help but have some interest in this. I remember rather liking Zack's first endeavor in the dead genre with 2004's "Dawn of the Dead", even though I haven't watched it in awhile. Though unlike that film, Army won't have to contend with continual comparisons to a horror classic like the original George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead". Which will work in Snyder's favor, rather than be a potential detriment. Which remakes/reboots usually have to deal with.
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

New poster is up, and the release date is confimed to be on May 21st.

While Warner Butchers are being absolutely jackasses towards Snyder, Netflix seem to treat him very well, as this video covers.

New trailer looks great. And that's high praise coming from somebody who doesn't care about zombie fiction.

Promotional posters are great too.

Unlike those pieces of trash at Warner Butchers, Netflix have embraced Snyder. No word of any trailer leaks either. Hm.

Quote
Zack Snyder is returning to the zombie genre for the first time in 17 years when his next movie "Army of the Dead" comes to Netflix in May.

When asked what it was like working with the streaming service and if we'd see any other cuts of the film on the streaming service — referencing his recently released "Snyder cut" of "Justice League" on HBO Max — Snyder had some interesting choice words after praising Netflix.

"This is the movie. There's no other cuts of the movie," Snyder told a group of press and fans during a live Netflix-hosted Q&A Tuesday morning, which Insider attended. "I didn't have to fight them. It was the opposite."

"This is the director's cut, if you will, of 'Army of the Dead,'" he continued. "You don't have to see a bastardized version. You get to just see the awesome version first."

I love his swipe at WB.

I have my criticisms of Netflix, specifically for their tendency to cancel shows so prematurely. But they're more of a "director-driven" company than Warner Butchers claim to be.

Character posters for AOTD were released a week ago, but the one that caught my eye was Zeus, the Alpha Zombie. He is played by Batfleck's stunt double, Richard Cetrone.

The zombies are described as a lot more unpredictable and intelligent than what you normally see, so I anticipate the leader of the pack will be a true threat.

Another Snyder devotee who appeared in his DCEU films is Samantha Win, who is playing Chambers. Many have mentioned her bandana is a nod to Pvt. Vasquez in Aliens.

Only a few weeks to go.

There is a fair bit of hype going on at the moment surrounding Army of the Dead. Early buzz says the film is great, but we'll see if that sentiment remains once the film is available on Netflix next Friday.

In the meantime, Netflix is really bringing in the hype for this film. Just as he did for ZSJL, Snyder did a breakdown video analysing the latest trailer.

Here is this endearing video of Snyder's reaction to this fan-made trailer recreating AOTD by kids from Nigeria.

WB could learn a thing or two from this sort of marketing. But given they were the ones who had the rights to make AOTD for years before selling it to Netflix, that's probably too much to ask. Now, Netflix is showing off its confidence and planning to build a franchise.

I watched AOTD last night.

It was much more suspenseful than I thought it would be. A few quirky moments here and there by the German character Dieter, but the film doesn't shy away from genuine tragedy and emotion. Dave Bautista shows he has more acting range than most people give him credit for, as he already showed in BR49, and he had strong father-daughter chemistry with Ella Purnell.

My favourite character would have to be Zeus. Menacing, frightening, and surprisingly, he expressed traces of whatever humanity he had left despite being a zombie, during a pivotal yet gruesome scene. The Alpha Zombies are more than what you typically see in this sort of fiction.

The opening credits montage was excellent. Long, but very well done. It tells the backstory of the team going into Las Vegas for the first time and how the outbreak was unleashed. I wish there was a prequel film that expanded all of those scenes.

Speaking of prequels, Army of Thieves is coming out on Netflix some time this year, and it's directed by the actor who plays Dieter and he will reprise the role as well. Netflix are really embracing Snyder's new franchise, and the two shared taking a swipe at WB.  :D

You gotta love the Snyder cut cannisters making a cameo too.

If you're into zombies and horror, check it out.

Teaser trailer to the prequel got released last month.

Probably a little more quirky than AOTD, but I'm still keen to check it out.

As you can tell, this prequel takes place before the zombie outbreak happened in Las Vegas. As it's described as a "romantic heist" movie, it won't be anywhere near intense as AOTD, but I'll see it for Dieter Ludwig and how it will dive into his obsession with safe-cracking.
