Pretty nice quaity!

Nice! I wonder where this aired originally. It's on the home video special features if I'm not mistaken.

In 1989 a Mexican candy bar named "Carlos V" made an exclusive sticker book to tie in with the film. Below is the original commercial along with a vid that shows what a completed version of the sticker book looked like.

Here are a couple of videos I found: one is a short news bulletin reporting the premiere in LA, and the other is a vox pop montage of fans who watched the trailer for the first time.

QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Got a vid from June 23, 1989 covering the Bat-Craze in Dallas at the time.

This clip reminds me how the comics were humming in the background all that time during the post West years and the movie solidified the darker movement. I think Batman will always be big, but it's going to take something really special to reach the heights of B89, TDK and JOKER. The Batman had hype, but it wasn't like those others.

The Dark Knight and Spider-Man (2002) are the only comic book films from my lifetime (born in 1992) that felt like big events upon release. I know Infinity War and Endgame were bigger box office wise, but the build up to them wasn't the same as those aforementioned films.

I agree. The films we've mentioned felt like cultural moments, or breakthroughs of some kind. There has to be a hook for a movie to be really special. It's a rare thing and happens only so often. Batman (1989) had it in spades. It was reintroducing the general public to something they loved and also missed. We don't really get the chance to miss something these days.

Here's a vid covering the counterfeit Batman merch on the market.

Thanks to YouTube Channel "Vampire Robot" for uploading the past 2 clips. They have a lot of vintage footage like this on their channel.

No, we don't. Especially not for 20 years as was the case here for the 89 film. For Batman to be gone that long in live action only to return in a form that the mainstream hadn't seen before was part of the excitement.
