Max Shreck's Death

Minor criticism here, but one thing about BR that seemed a little off was the death of Max Shreck. I don't know, it seemed a little to sudden. For such a major character, it seems like he was taken out as an afterthought. Maybe I just wanted to see a future for the character, but the Penguin had a grand sendoff and Catwoman was set up for future installments.

Sudden? Considering he shot her four times, there was plenty of setup. You knew when she got to him he was f***ed. You have a right to your opinion but that's ridiculous.

I'm glad he died.

If innocents, or at least relative innocents, were going to die in the film, then so should the baddies.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

"How bout a kiss Santy Claus....." It's Michelle's performance that gives you the big sendoff. After her sinister delivery of that line (in her best, deep, seductive voice) you don't really need to see Max visually get sizzled like the turkey he is.

Okay, so the opinion that I wish Max Shreck lived is ridiculous? Alrighty then, here's to pointless message board drama ::)

And I mean 'sudden' as in where did the stun gun come from? That was only touched upon briefly earlier in the film.

One of my favorite Batman stories is from the Animated Series episode "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" The ending still resonates with me out of all the others because the villains didn't get their due in the sense that we've come to expect (bad guys go to jail/end up dead). But their defeat is still a powerful event, especially Mockeridge the corrupt businessman. He escaped from the whole ordeal seemingly completely unscathed, but has to live with the consequences of his actions and in constant fear for his life.

More to the point, where did Shreck's gun come from? It's next to the corpse of the Fat Clown, but the Fat Clown wasn't holding a gun when he was shot. Nor did he have any visible pockets in his costume that might have concealed the weapon. So where did it come from? And how did Max survive immersion in the toxic waste-infested water to begin with?

Best not to think about these things too closely, I suppose.

He wasn't in the water very long, and whatever toxic waste was in their would be massively diluted by the water.  I doubt anyone would die from being exposed to that water for a few seconds.

And Slash Man, I don't know if you were referring to me, but I hardly think my post represented 'drama'.  That said, I doubt anyone as evil and unconscionable as Max Shreck would have spent the rest of his life plagued by any guilt.  He was a sociopath.  However, it might have been interesting if Max has survived but he lived to see his only relative, and son, Chip, killed by The Penguin.

I think that would have been an even more satisfying ending.

No, I quoted Catwoman where she called the opinion "ridiculous."

It's interesting that you bring Chip up. The only time Max shows any amount of compassion was when his son was threatened. Again, something that could totally be expanded upon. Though there's also lots of backstory assumed as well... Man, how awesome would it be if they added Max to the Gotham series.

If he had to live with Chip's death, Max would be even more dangerous. We've never seen him actively plot against any of the main characters.

I didn't even get to the "wish he'd lived" part. And to me, yes it is ridiculous. In the context of the movie he signed his own death certificate when he pushed her through the window. Someone else just filled in the date. As interesting as he was and the way he fit the charming slimeball, I can see where one might want him back for later but the movie ending with him still breathing would have been just plain wrong.

Your comparison to Riddler's boss in BTAS is totally apples and oranges, too. And no I'm not saying that because on some feminist kick. The extent of what the boss did pales in comparison to what Max did. Plus you're talking about a cartoon situation vs a movie. In the movies, Riddler's boss (well Bruce was the boss, Stickley was the under boss) had the same fate.
