I found this 1989 David Letterman interview where Michael Keaton came to promote B89 before it had hit theatres, and he accidentally admitted that Joker murdered Bruce's parents. :-[

Take a look at the 5:50 mark.

Luckily for Keaton, the internet didn't exist back then. If there were people who didn't like the idea of Joker being the killer, could you image the loud backlash they would've expressed online?
QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

I remember that! Keaton was a little taken aback himself that he revealed it, but it didn't hurt the film one bit!  8)

I wonder if he got slapped on the wrist by the studio for that?  Perhaps not.  Ahh, the pre-internet days.
