I wonder if there's any chance I can get my analysis/review over to Mr Affleck? I'd love for him to see how a fan enjoyed his performance, and the movie itself. I suppose we could tweet my feature, once completed, through to his account, and perhaps he'll come across it?

That would be so cool.

Get on that Lex. I mean Jesse. I mean Paulral.

:P

The critics can go hang as far as I am concerned. They are dead to me, and mean nothing. I just hope the movie makes a tidy profit. It seems to be doing okay. It seems like B89 mixed with BR. The outrage over Affleck's initial casting ala Keaton in 1989, and the backlash of BR being 'too dark' and 'too weird'. Oh, how unappreciative people are of art that genuinely honours the material and the characters as a collective. Oh well. I'm used to fighting my corner, standing up for what I believe in. It's an opinion business, and my opinion is no less important.

But yeah, let's get my analysis over to Affleck.

This movie is totally going to be niche. We love it. Others here don't. I think all aspects of the Bat fandom are well repped here, so that is very telling. Some peoples' tastebuds just aren't going to take to this. I meanwhile sat there loving nearly every minute. It was beautiful to me.

I have seen people list what was 'wrong' with the film, and I can rebut most of them. Some critiques are just off the mark, and don't grasp the scene/s in question, or what was even happening in the first place.

Well yes there's that too lol

People get so butt hurt about Batman killing.

Batman kills. Period. I'd much rather someone who intends to kill, and does so to the bad guys, than an incompetent fool who 'indirectly' kills ala Baleman blowing up the monastery in Begins.

Batman used guns in the dream sequence. But that's a dream sequence, a possible future in which hell on earth exists. So,it doesn't even come into the debate. Snyder is right. Batman used a gun in TDK Returns. He took a gun off a goon and used it on them. He wasn't carrying the weapon in the first place....he took it off them. He's therefore using what he has to his advantage. The scenario in the film played out exactly as it should have. Batman used the tool he had at the time, and put the hostage taker down. He didn't really have any other option open.

If he (the hostage taker) wants to wear a flamethrower tank on his back, then that's his choice. I completely agree with Snyder that Batman wouldn't give much thought to such people who engage in criminal behaviour, and die as a result of their own actions during the heat of battle. It's collateral damage.

I just roll my eyes at all the 'bastardisation of the character' comments.

Go for it, bro.

Is it possible to have a "Z" lol

Oh dear.....oh f***ing dear.......

Anyone care to join me at the bar? First round's on one of you? And please, make mine a bloody large one!
Did you give the D+? Hahahaha
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...

At the moment, it's a toss between a B- or C+ for me.

I just roll my eyes at all the 'bastardisation of the character' comments.

Especially if those comments come from Nolan fans. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Ridicule Zack Snyder all you want for not getting his facts straight and making up different excuses for why he had Superman kill Zod in MOS, at least he had the decency to not have his characters pretend to have a moral code and have them break it whenever it was convenient to the story.

Besides, it's no worse than Nolan admitting that he didn't know that Batman had a no-kill policy before he directed any of these films, and even thinks it's difficult for the hero to avoid using guns in an action film:

Quote
I didn't know Batman didn't kill people when I signed on for the project. It was David [Goyer] who broke that news. And I was like, 'How do you make that work?' I said to the MPAA on The Dark Knight: 'Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a contemporary action film where the protagonist doesn't carry a gun? Doesn't kill people?'

Yet, he decided to pay lip service to the no-kill thing anyway without even bothering to try to address the inconsistencies.  ::) To me, that's much worse than anything Snyder says.
QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Indeed. I want to cheer the guy up. I'm going to add a bunch of stuff and hope to have it done and dusted by this week. The title of my feature, by the way, is called 'Batman's new dawn'.
