Is The New Adventures of B&R anything like The Batman, is what I'm asking.

There is a similarity, especially in the last seasons. But The Batman, IMO, is actually entertaining. It definitely makes up for that load of garbage, Batman Beyond. The Batman has Bruce Wayne as Batman, the way it should ALWAYS BE! ;D

I only own the first three volumes of TAS on DVD and was wondering if the forth volume is worth getting? I heard that the quality of the show went down for the forth one even though Bruce Timm's team made it.

You should actually get the complete set that came out recently. The third season of B:TAS is actually titled the New Adventures of Batman & Robin. I enjoyed it. My advice is just don't let the people who told you it sucked get to you. That season also has the episode "Bane", which is another of my favorite episodes. I love it when Bane says "No, you can't beat me! I am Bane! I am invincible! I am Bane! (falls asleep after Batman pulls out the tube from Bane's mask)" after Batman damages his Venom device. Now THAT'S a triumphant Batman moment!

Ever since Nacho Libre came out I can't watch the Bane episode without thinking of "Nachoisms". Especially when He knocks out Robin. "Anaconda Squeeeeze!" It is a good episode though.

I know what my favorite episode is, but I'll also list my favorite episodes per villain

Joker: Tie between the Laughing Fish and Joker's Favor. The Laughing Fish is just about the scariest Joker episode I can think of, while Joker's Favor is just plain fun, not to mention the "Charlie Collins Theme" is one of my absolute favorites.

Two-Face: umm.. Day of the Samurai? His two parter of course and my second favorite epsiode(s).

Penguin: Birds of a Feather. The best merging of DeVito's Penguin with  the classic Penguin.

Riddler: This one's a toss up between If You're So Smart Why Aren't You Rich? and Riddler's Reform. I like the TV commercial angle in Reform
While I LOVE the ending to his premiere.

Catwoman: I never thought her episodes were as classic as some of the others, but I think my favorite is actually Batgirl Returns.

The Scarecrow: Dreams in Darkness. His debut wasn't great, but it's the only one to really focus on who Jonathan Crane really is, however I have to give the edge to the "Batman Goes Crazy Except He Really Doesn't" episode. How can you top the scene where the tunnel turns into the gun? Pretty intense and yet also symbolic enough to go over the little kiddies' heads.

Killer Croc: Another toss up, Vendetta or Sideshow

Mad Hatter: Many people absolutely love Perchance to Dream, but my personal favorite for Jervis is Mad As A Hatter. The whole rejection thing really struck a chord with me, but I've always liked unrequited love story lines.

And my favorite....

Mr. Freeze and Heart of Ice. for me, it was THE closest the show got to being one of the Burton movies.

As for Batman and his team

The origins for Robin and Batgirl, obviously, and for Batman himself...

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Okay that last one wasn't an episode but I really don't care at this point.
Why is there always someone who bring eggs and tomatoes to a speech?

Well, my favorites are:
I am the night - Best of the show
The Laughing fish
The trial
Almost got'im
Harley & Ivy
Two-Face pt1 & 2
On Leather Wings
MY god, I loooooove this show! ;D
Batman Arkham Asylum: The Batman game the fans were waiting for.

any episode with harley!!!
any episode with catwoman

"Almost got 'im" - there was a kid's picture book with a cassette tape that was made out if this episode that I got for Christmas one year. I listened to it over and over and over again. It's stayed my favourite.

Almost Got Him.  :) Best Episode ever.
-------------------------------------------------------------
"Do you like eating in here?"   ...Oh yeah. .. ....   ... ... ...You know to tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever been in this room before.
"hahaeheheh"  You want to get out of here?  "YES."

Coming back to this thread. I've changed my viewpoints about Batman a lot over the past couple years. Chiefly, BTAS is pretty much it for me as far as Batman media go (including Burton, I might add, but he's still top dog in live action). I won't quite call it definitive but it's so close to perfect that it almost doesn't matter.

Rewatching some episodes, I've recalibrated my top five best of BTAS (which includes movies and whatnot).

01- Mask of the Phantasm- Probably don't have to defend this one around here

02- Two Face- Esp Part 1 and Harvey's chilling therapy session scene

03- Heart of Ice- Speaking of chilling...

04- On Leather Wings- Wasn't this the debut episode? I'd never seen TV animation of this caliber before. Even my layman 11 year old self knew this was something special

05- The Laughing Fish- This was the first time I could remember the BTAS Joker being actually scary.

-- Runners Up
Perchance to Dream- This might actually have ended up on the list up there but Alan Burnett... well, the fvcker lied, there's no way around it. In Comic Scene magazine, there was a cover story about BTAS leading up to the premiere. He talked about this episode and described the basic premise. "Bruce wakes up and discovers he's not Batman and there is no Batman. And it's not a dream either. We don't fake people out." I couldn't believe it and couldn't wait to finally see the episode for myself. His summary of the episode? BfvckingS. No, it wasn't a dream in the most literal sense of the word but DON'T TELL ME THIS DAMNED THING WASN'T A DREAM! Anyway. I'm still miffed about it all these years later, I guess.

Over The Edge- This is how to do a dream episode.

Bane- It felt like the show had to be more shiny, happy, friendly for the kids when it became The Adventures of Batman & Robin or whatever the title was. This episode was good but it just felt like something vital had gone missing. Still, this episode turned out great.
