Let's also note that Simmons is old enough to have a 20-something year old daughter...

I like the way you think

I've seen some fan art manips, and Simmons has potential to be great.

For those curious to see what Simmons would look like with the hair, glasses, and mustache, check out the photo manip in this link:

Personally I hope it's something similar to this look. We haven't had a white-haired Gordon in live action in a long time and Gordon was pretty much white-haired through all the comics up until Year One. It would fit in with the TDKR aesthetic that Affleck's already adopting, help to differentiate him from Oldman's Gordon, and would fit with Simmons's age (he's older than Oldman).

That's not just a great manip, that's a brilliant piece of artwork.

And I also hope we'll see Batgirl/Barbara Gordon/The Oracle in some capacity during the franchise.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

Gary Oldman's advice to J K Simmons about playing Gordon:

Quote"The thing you've just got to get used to with Gordon is he's a really sound detective, first of all.  And he's really incorruptible, which is a kind of wonderful quality to play and sort of, like, true blue.  He's like a Watson, oddly.  He's sort of like Watson to Sherlock, is Gordon to Batman."

I think Gary Oldman was absolutely sublime as Gordon.  He gave one of my all-time favourite performances in a Batman, even a comic-book, movie.

That said, I hope the equally superb Simmons won't feel beholden to emulate anything Oldman did.  What would be the point of that?  Simmons should do his own thing with the role.

Agreed. While many have commented on the dark knight rises suffering from the lack of Batman I felt even more it suffered from the lack of Gordon. Oldman is one of the only major players in that series whos character himself was universally acclaimed (Caine's alfred was as well but some felt he gave too many monologues and was too harsh on Bruce). One of my favourite exchanges is the rare one between Gordon and Bruce Wayne in the dark knight (when Bruce intentionally causes a car accident to save Reese).

Simmons on his predecessors:

Quote"Well, to read the comics, yes, absolutely. I'm still a couple of months out from doing that and I have two other films before then, so I haven't gotten started on that. Obviously, a lot of really wonderful actors have played that character previously, and most of them I saw at the time the movies came out, never imagining that I would be doing the same thing. So, I can't say that I don't have some impression of that character in my head that's based on what I saw, but I'm not planning on going back and watching any of the other films. I'm just planning on learning as much as I can about him through the comics and getting my feet wet in the first movie, and then hopefully continuing on from there.

I take this from my days doing theater. If I was doing a musical, I would never listen to the cast album because I wanted to do my version of something. I'm sure there will be differences and similarities with what Gary Oldman or Pat Hingle have done before, but I'm just going to try to do my take on it and be as informed as I can about the rich history of the Batman universe, going into it."

That is promising. I adore him so that's going to be so fun.

Pictures from trainer Aaron Williamson show that even Commissioner Gordon is gonna be jacked for Justice League:

I knew that Simmons was in good shape, after seeing how he looked in Whiplash, but I had no idea he was in this type of shape. Fans are already fantasizing about Simmons doing the New 52 story arc where Gordon took over as Batman. Hell, even Simmons's workout clothes are black, blue, and yellow, like Gordon's Batsuit (the one under the robot suit).
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...
