Nicholson at #1 and Pfeiffer at #2.

By the way, do you know that Nicholson was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Bafta in 1989?
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

I approve of the top 2 nominations! :)

But I have to say I didn't even know #3 and #4 counted as Comic Book Movies  :-\  and RDJ was great as Tony Stark, yes.

Ghost World and American Splendor are based on graphic novels.

Not all comic-books are about superheroes you know?  ;)

DeVito transformed into his character as much as anybody. And he got a Razzie.

What a joke.

He was only nominated for a Razzie.  Thankfully he didn't actually 'win' the award.

But you're 100% right about it being a joke.  IMHO it's the Razzie's biggest disgrace alongside its inaugural year in which Stanley Kubrick was nominated as 'Worst Director' for The Shining.  ::)

Indeed. It's just a further reminder the Oscars and Razzies are, like anything, opinion based, and not really proof of anything being better or worse.

My top five comic book actors would be:

Michael Keaton
Christopher Reeve
Robert Downey Jr
Tobey Maguire
Chris Evans

Very good list.

Christopher Reeve as Superman is still probably the closest any actor has come to capturing the essence of the comic-book character they were playing.  He was so good creating distinct personalities for Superman and Clark Kent.  He even did a superb job playing the 'evil' Superman in Superman III.

Perphaps, but I like those about superheroes better :)

And good list, The Dark Knight.

It's true about Reeve. I think Cavill is quite good as a modern interpretation of Superman, but it's hard to see Reeve being topped. He had genuine heart and soul, and it all felt very natural. For a boy scout character, Reeve made Superman likeable. And that you'd feel terrible saying a bad word about the guy, or making him feel upset.

I love Keaton, and all the actors have their strengths. But in some ways, Batman hasn't had a 'definitive' live action portrayal like Superman has. If BvS is a good movie, and Affleck goes down well with audiences, there's every chance he could take that mantle. The visuals and fight choreography are being praised. And it seems like the businessman side of Wayne will be explored more in depth this time, along with his detective skills.

Agreed.  As great as all the live-action Batman actors have been none have truly captured the comic-book character the way Christopher Reeve captured Superman/Clark Kent.

In many ways, I think Adam West came closest to capturing the ideal Bruce Wayne, but he was obviously limited by the sixties show's campy backdrop.  I also think Keaton looked the best (i.e. the most intimidating and formidable) in the Batsuit, but as superb as his overall performance is, I don't think anyone could argue that he was playing a traditional version of Bruce Wayne.

But like you state, Affleck has the potential to coming the closest to being the 'definitive live-action Batman/Bruce Wayne', and he's already got a head-start in that he actually looks a lot like the comic-panel Bruce Wayne (and as the trailers demonstrate, he's pretty impressive in the Bat-costume too).
