A wonderful actor gone. Condolences to the family friends and his fans. The acting world has lost a giant. :(

69 years old and from cancer. Again. Damn.

RIP Alan. You were amazing.

"Call off Christmas"  :(

I met Alan Rickman last April.  He was not only incredibly magnetic, he was gracious, considerate and friendly, patiently taking various pictures with small groups and individuals.

Obviously he's always been an amazing actor, but I can testify from personal experience that he was a lovely man too.

What an awful week.  Screw cancer.  >:(

Rest In Peace.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

He was known more to us younger ones as Professor Snape, and he was damn fine in every film I saw him in.

I mostly think of him as Han Gruber, my joint favourite movie villain alongside Star Wars' Emperor.  Bruce Willis is superb in Die Hard but Alan Rickman owns that action movie classic.

But Rickman was also wonderful as more normal and sympathetic characters in films like Love Actually, particularly this hilarious scene:

Many of us here are Tim Burton fans so this clip seems particularly fitting today.  :(

Amazing performances, amazing singing.

Yes, indeed. I liked Sweeney Todd and his part was memorable IMO.

My favorite Rickman role is Hans Gruber but I was only saying that he is quite famous as Severus Snape for the younger fans.

Snape is one of my favourite characters of all time. He's well written by Rowling, but Rickman really did amplify things further with his voice and sheer presence. He said a lot without even talking.
