I do too. There's an argument that playing Batman keeps his bills paid while he does other movies. Plus, doing so probably keeps WB happy. Being in a movie studio's good graces is rarely a bad thing. Maybe he views his run on Batman as a limited thing... but I think it's more likely he sees a bigger picture going on there. We'll see, I guess.

Some actors don't like doing it, for instance Michael Keaton had a tough time on Batman Returns because he felt he was imitating himself. At this stage of his career, it may be a tougher thing for Affleck to pull off not having done it before. Though the only characters of his which made any sense to reprise were Daredevil and his Kevin Smith characters.
Didn't he actually do just that? Didn't he have a cameo appearance in Elektra? And he did have a cameo as his Chasing Amy character in the Jay & Silent Bob movie.

He's been in multiple Jay and silent bob movies but up until clerks 2, the only characters to be in multiple Kevin smith movies themselves were Jay and Silent Bob.

He filmed a cameo in Elektra but it was cut. Hopefully his initial comments after the release of BvS were due to him feeling he let the audiences down until the fan reception came in. Affleck is getting strong reviews all around.

I hope they go with Affleck's script. It would be insanely cool to have someone play Batman, and to have also written the script. And we all know Affleck has serious credentials in this area. I could see him focusing on the death of Robin, fleshing that out, and adding Leto's Joker into the present day mix.

TDK, I suspect you know my views on Nolan by now. While I don't dislike the movies, they're not really my ideal. I came to accept Kilmer and Clooney's Batmen... but it took a long time.

But the Batman we saw in BvS? For the first time in a long time, there's a movie Batman that I'd love to see more of in future films. Probably for the first time since 1992, there's a movie Batman that I can't wait to see again in the future.

This wasn't the outcome I was expecting from BvS. But I'll take it!

What's your opinion on Superman's portrayal in BvS, and the outlook going forward?

I myself thought it was a strong portrayal, because really, Supes didn't bend his ideals. He was a good man, and wanted humanity to join him in the sun. He's booed and hounded by pretty much everyone, but he keeps on saving people regardless, even if his faith is tested at times. As it naturally would be.

At the end, Supes comes out clean, with even Batman realising he truly was a good man, with good intentions. And perhaps he should get on board with that vibe. It's the world that is dark, mean and skeptical. Superman's frustration comes from that barrier humanity places on itself. But indeed, he doesn't sell out his values. He doesn't turn cruel, when he had every right to lash out and become one of the bad guys.

I rather enjoy it. What we see in BvS is Superman. Nothing more, nothing less. He's more or less what he's always been. It's the rest of the world that's having trouble accepting him.

There's a lot of scuttlebut that Clark Kent as Superman's secret identity is gone forever. Supposedly Snyder doesn't really like secret identities and finds Superman's especially untenable. So part of the reason he killed off both characters was to eliminate having to deal with Clark Kent.

There's no way to know if that's true. But if it is... that really would be my red line. You cannot jettison the concept of Clark Kent, especially not when there are creative (and technological) ways of maintaining the secret identity concept in a world overflowing with facial recognition software.

But putting aside black helicopter conspiracy theories, I enjoy what we've gotten so far. I'm very eager to see what's coming.

I wonder how they'll bring Supes back?

Perhaps the codex will come into play?

But then again, he's not dead, but rather hibernating, ala the comics. Because dead is dead.
