How much do you think The Dark Knight will gross at the US Box-Office?

I dont think it will make more than Titanic. It does restrict a lot of young kids to go. Plus I dont think many people will go back to watch it unless they are really big Batman fans.

I think alot of the kids would go back to see The Dark Knight. Younger kids, no. But I know for sure that the 11 year olds, the 14 year olds and  Everyone else in general, who enjoys watching any batman film, loves this film in particular.

Like I said, I'm not going to go over board with the predictions, but I'm pretty confident enough to say that TDK will take Shrek 2's spot as the 3rd highest grossing film in the US box-office. Then i'm sure Warner Bros. will have a sit down meeting, and probably hand the franchise over to Nolan. Nolan will probably make at least 1 more fantastic Batman film for the fans.

I disagree, I don't think it'll hold their attention spans more than one or two viewings. You also have to consider the mainstreem non fans that look at this film as the 6 Batman movie they've had paraided around that are going to quickly dismiss it as yet another Batman flick.

It was 440 million in 10 days (about 44 million per day). As of 28/7 it's 450 worldwide. Not too bad.

There is nothing for me to say. Check out the box-office results for yourself, Gotham Knight. You will see that the multiple-viewings from MOST people, has contributed greatly to the sucess of The Dark Knight.

judging from all the "OMG dis is teh greatest movie EVAH!!!"'s I'm hearing people arn't dismissing it as yet another Batman flick.

Yeah, I'm not seeing much, well really none at all, dismissing this as simply another Batman movie in a line of Batman movies. It's clear this one is getting exceptionally high praise, and much adoration as well.
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

It's hard for me to fathom how a film like this could be this successful based strictly on fan appeal, or fans seeing it multiple times.  Even families going to see it wouldn't necessarily generate figures like this given the graphic nature of some parts of the story.  Repeat business (beyond the fan community) has to figure in to this somewhere.  People see TDK... and then they bring a friend with them when they see it again.  Also, you can't buy the kind of WOM TDK has.

I think the same thing went down with Iron Man.

I think because of it being a Batman movie, alot of people who aren't fans of the films, don't want to see it. However, because of the mainstream attention its getting, people are starting believe that this is no ordinary batman film, and it must be good if everyone's talking about it. Which would explain the high figures. People are all paying to see for themselves, why this movie is so interesting, along with Heath's performance as the Joker, etc.

Without a doubt, it's paying off and you can bet there will be another sequel. But it probably wouldn't do this good at the box-office.
