Ah man, that would've been sweet!

Yeah, it would have been.  :-\

If Heath was alive, sure, I'd do that. Now, I suppose you could replace Joker with Calander Man, but I'd just drop it. Let Batman figure it out for himself, a good chance to see some detective work.
I'm glad that it won't happen then (please take that the way I mean it).  There's no possible way to explain him wearing make up and hair dye in Arkham.  It'd never happen.  So that stuff would have to be gone.  But extended sequences sans make up... I dunno, it'd ruin the mystique the character had.

Im almost 100% positive from my sources we wont see anything regarding The Joker in the third film, you never know how long the third film will take place after the second film, it might be a long time.

My opinion is, Ledger's Joker was iconic, re-casting or using crappy generic cgi to make an image of him is the lamest thing ive ever heard and Nolan and co have WAY too much respect for Ledger and his performance (that was the main reason why the film was and is as big as it couldve been) to pull a terrible move like using The Joker again in a third film.

We have a whole film with The Joker in it, and thats perfect, theres no need to overdo anything, its time now to see other villains get justice in a sequel the same way most the villains in Nolans films have had already.

I have given a name to my pain, and it is BATMAN.

I'm just addressing my comment about Two-Face a page back. I did exaggerate as TDK would not become a worthless piece of crap if he is indeed dead, he is just one of my favorite villains so I would be very saddened if he is indeed dead. However, even with the director and such sighting the idea that he is dead, does it not still seem to be open? I mean, with that ending, does it really seem as if the book has been closed on Two-Face? I haven't seen these comments by the production about how and why they killed him off so I can't comment on that, but wouldn't it be typical Nolan to hide his true ideas from the audience?

My idea from the end of the film was that Harvey Dent was dead, but that his legacy and actions would live on, and not be compromised by his Two-Face persona. This leaves the idea that Two-Face perhaps is now his full on persona that he takes on. In a nutshell, I got the idea that Harvey Dent and everything he stood for was to be solidified forever in possibly faking his death and throwing Two-Face in Arkham or something along those lines.

Just a thought though, I'm not trying to be in denial about him being dead, even if it sounds like it. I just don't see the way they ended TDK as a finale that closes the book on Two-Face.

Aaron Eckhart on Two-Face
Source:Heather Newgen September 4, 2008

SPOILER ALERT!: The following article spoils certain aspects of The Dark Knight. If you have not seen the movie, turn back now!

Yes, it's true. Aaron Eckhart says goodbye to Batman. At the press day for his upcoming indie film Towelhead, ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! talked to the actor who portrayed Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight. He told us he's definitely not signed on for another film and confirmed his character is dead.

Eckhart laughed about how he tried to ask if there was a chance he was coming back and was good-humored about the deadly fate of Dent.

CS/SHH!: Is Harvey Dent alive?
Aaron Eckhart: No. He is dead as a door nail.

CS/SHH!: So he's not coming back?
Eckhart: He ain't coming back baby!

CS/SHH!: I was hoping he would.
Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, "You're dead" before I could even get the question out of my mouth. "Hey Chris, am I?" "You're dead!" Alright, cool.

CS/SHH!: That's not a problem in comic book movies. You could still come back.
Eckhart: I think in contract negotiations it's a problem.

CS/SHH!: So you were never signed on for another film?
Eckhart: No, I'm not coming back. I think unfortunately, Heath [Ledger] was supposed to go on and that didn't work out. I'm nobody. I'm a cog. I have no say over this sort of stuff. I'm sure that there's so many other characters that they could whip together. I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that was a great idea. I'd like to be in that one.

CS/SHH!: It must be gratifying that so many people responded to your character.
Eckhart: Yeah, I dig it. Write your Congressman. I like that for the first time in my career I'm getting fan mail from kids and 8-year-olds. "My name is Bill. I really liked the film." I've never had that before. I think that's fun. I think someone told me they're going to be Harvey Two-Face for Halloween which is cool. I said to two kids the other day, "Did you see Batman yet?" Then I come to find out like two seconds later they've seen it four times. People are really going back to see it. My parents saw it I think 12 [times] so far. They're sick that it's going out of the theaters.

CS/SHH!: Do they normally see your movies 12 times?
Eckhart: I don't know about 12, but they like to go see the movies. They like to go see the audience. They like to tell people that I'm in the movie like popcorn people.

Yep. He's dead in this film. End of story. If it worries people so much, take heart that he is alive in the comic universe.

I figured it would be a good idea to show people the facts since alot of posters on here dont really venture outside as much as some others do. Its funny though Aaron sounds actually a little mad that he wasnt asked to come back.

Yes. A few posts back I said
QuoteIt?s in the script, novelisation and Nolan himself has said so.

I hadn't heard anything officially about that, but I know that was a popular fan idea when TDK was still in production.  8)
Where'd you hear this from?
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...
