Something from the film I never noticed - Joker stabs Gambol's thugs who are standing over him when he's playing dead. It's cut incredibly quick, but it's there. Check it out when you get the DVD. Joker just got more grisly.
Thats the first time I also noticed this, I didnt even notice it in imax, that makes two more extra brutal kills that I didnt even notice before!

I have given a name to my pain, and it is BATMAN.

So brutal that there's not even blood on the knives.

In the words of the Joker "shh shh shh shh"

He probably licked them clean anyway.  :P

In my opinion part of what made Ledger's Joker so great is that it was seemingly nothing like any of the comics I had read before. I find his Joker to be more of his own incarnation with a bit of a hollywood and real world twist on the personality.

Leading up to TDK, I kept saying to my friends who would ask me about Ledger's Joker that good or bad, it's going to be like nothing we have ever seen before, and I felt that it was one of a kind when I left the film.

I agree 100% very well put.

I also agree with you very much, though I do so plenty of years in comics included in his portrayal, he really did just do his own thing, which was the best idea in the world to do.

It is a massive tragedy he will never reprise this role. Nobody will beat him, and they?d be a fool to try. I think it is the benchmark - the definitive portrayal on screen and will be the thing of legends.

When I watch the film, I feel the enormity of Ledger?s loss even more. His career would have exploded after this. When I first saw the film at the cinema, I didn?t cry or feel sad when he was on screen, he made me smile. I turned to the person next to me and they were as well. He had electricity running through his body, he was bubbling with insanity and dark wit. He was dangerous, I truly felt this man could bring the City to its knees.

It was a magnificent celebration of his work. Heath, wherever you are, you did a bloody fantastic piece of work here. It's a crying shame you are not here to reap the praise you deserve.

I couldnt agree with you more, I remember opening night dressed as The Joker midnight showing (as you can see in my banner below this post on the left) I felt such a tragic feeling in my first viewing, and I still feel it everytime I watch the film. For me I feel it the most at the end with the Joker hanging from thew zipline talking to batman, he seems so creepy and evil ( especially watching that part thinking, this guy whos doing such an amazing thing is dead in real life), it was such a perfect portrayal.

That dosent mean to say I like Nicholsons performance as The Joker any less but If I remember the quote from Ang Lee on this one:

"You can tell Jack was having fun doing that, but Heath put his heart and soul into his performance"

I totally agree with that statement!

^Yeah it's a tragic irony in a way: Ledger's Joker is waiting for another appearance but as we all know, it won't happen.

Yeah, it sucks. Two Face is dead, and Joker was meant to be back in Batman 3. Now they both are.  :-\
