Where was Robin going?

A scene from Batman Forever that always confused me has to be the small moment in which Robin returns to the Batcave, takes his circus suit from the costume vault and then pushes his bike along and out the Batmobile exit tunnel.

Where was he going anyway? It looks to me like a plot hole as it leads nowhere when he later returns in full Robin getup.

He was just 'leaving,' and since he stopped to get his costume (in the cave), he just left through the Batmobile access instead of going back upstairs.

THe bigger plot hole is when did Alfred make his actual "Robin" costume?  ???
"There's just as much room for the television series and the comic books as there is for my movie. Why wouldn't there be?" - Tim Burton

You mean quitting on Bruce Wayne? If so it doesn't quite explain why he'd wish to return to him.

I think I can answer the Alfred dilemma. For one thing he could have made it in secret at some point during the film (he does urge Batman to accept him as a partner at several points). Also in the comic adaptation Bruce awaking from his gunshot wound took place a few days afterwards whereas in the movie it seems the next morning. In that time he couldv'e constructed the suit.

As a kid I thought perhaps his leaving scene was him going off somewhere to make his Robin costume lol

The next morning? It seemed like everything happened in that one night.

I like this scene in Forever. From my point of view it's not a plot hole, he just wants out. To be anywhere but there. He has passion for continuing the fight with Bruce but all his advances are rejected. Bruce wants a life with Chase and deactivates the cave. It is apparent he can't operate from there any more. At least while Bruce is in this mindset. Who knows - maybe Dick found out Chase had been captured and knew Bruce would set out to rescue her. Meaning you'll need the help, I'm coming along whether you like it or not - this time Bruce accepts.

It looked like daytime to me when Bruce regains consciousness. In the comic adaptation the scene where they solve the riddles has an orange colour tone which made the scene look like it was taking place at sunset.
