The game is pretty good for it's time.

Though, I don't like the Batman (1989) Game Boy game much. It has Batman shooting people with guns! I mean, Burton's Batman did kill at times, but he was not The Punisher.

Ah, the memories of Batman: Return/Revenge of the Joker are rushing back!
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

Sunsoft's Batman for GB? It was one of the most popular portables of that era, almost every child was seen holding a GB with Tetris, Super Mario Land or Batman.

WOW THANKS!  - usually i have to hook up the old  sega for this nostalgic gem - i remember not having any idea they were making the game for the 1st movie and then all of a sudden i see it on the shelf in like summer 1990 - or 91 even?

cluncky control layout though - taking me a while to get used to the left hand jump, batarang stuff - what's the easiest layout or is this the only way to control it?

i finally beat this son of a bitch! go me!

Which one did you beat; The SNES version or the Sega Genesis version?
Why is there always someone who bring eggs and tomatoes to a speech?

Congrats!

I've never beaten the Genesis version, I was horrified by the game and only played it sparingly. I never played it again once I got the BRILLIANT SNES version.

The super nes version was awesome for it's time.  8)

The Genesis version... while graphically cooler and better looking IMO, is #$%^#@ HARD AS $%&*#!  ridiculous lol.

One of these days, I'm just going to pull out the old SNES out of the closet and play this game again. I remember always wishing there was a SNES Batman 1989 game that had that SNES Batman Returns style game play.

Me too

It can't be said often enough how cool those mock-ups are. Excellent work, SilentEnigma!   8)
I also really wish the Batman Forever game would have been of the same quality as the Batman Returns game.

Batman Returns and Batman: The Animated Series for Super Nintendo were IMO the two best home console Batman games. Very accurate to the source material, challenging and so much fun! :)
The high frequency of throwing punches at the enemies in BR or throwing them into objects (like the harder to achieve street sign throw *PLONK!*) are so rewarding. I never got past the first Catwoman fight, though. So I haven't played the Batmobile stages, which I was really looking forward to as a kid. Next time I'll hook up the system I'll have to give this a serious try if I'll make it further.
