I know one person that will be very happy:

Good news, they won't do it without Keaton. Burton is involved, but that could be assumed with the presence of the Dark Shadows screenwriter.

Beetlejuice sequel, an update on "the ghost with the most" that's still in the concept phase.
DK: We're not remaking Beetlejuice. People have been very angry about that.
SGS: When Warner Bros. came to us about it, we said the only way we'd do it if we got Tim [Burton's] blessing and involvement, and we got that, and the star of the movie has to be Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, and it's a true continuation 26 years later. Not just throwing him in as a cameo going, "Hey, it's me. I endorse this movie." We're not there yet [with Keaton] because we don't have a film to present to him.

QuoteMichael Keaton Meets About Beetlejuice 2, Seth Grahame-Smith Offers Update

Last night, Shock Till You Drop met up with Seth Grahame-Smith about his upcoming film, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which he penned) in St.Louis.  While there, we got the latest on Beetlejuice 2, the follow-up film the writer is involved with at Warner Bros and that Tim Burton will shepherd.

Shock asked him for the latest on the project and to see how close the sequel was to becoming a reality.  "It's a reality in the sense that I met with Michael Keaton last week," Grahame-Smith told us.  "We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff.  It's a priority for Warner Bros.  It's a priority for Tim.  Right now, I am writing an animated movie for Tim based on an idea of mine.  Then I adapt Unholy Night [based on the upcoming book].  The third I am hoping is Beetlejuice in terms of writing schedule."

And what was Keaton's excitement level like?

"Huge," the writer added, "he's been wanting to do it for 20 years and he'll talk to anybody about it who will listen.  I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general.  I don't think we should do it if we sh*t on the legacy.  He agrees.  So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we're very early out."

Who's ready to see Keaton back at Beetlejuice?!
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

Me. And I want him back as Batman.

Nice. With Burton and Keaton attached it's in good hands.

Updated Beetlejuice news from Dark Shadows screenwriter, Seth Grahame.

Quote"I have a rough idea of what it's gonna be. However—I should stress this—it's not a remake, it's not a reboot, it is a true sequel with Michael Keaton as the title character Beetlejuice. The thing that Tim and Michael and I all agree on, and is most important for me is, I don't wanna be the guy that destroys the legacy and the memory of the first film; I would rather die. I would rather just not make it, I'd rather just throw the whole thing away than make something that pays no respect and doesn't live up even close to the legacy of the first film.

This will be a true 26 or 27 years later sequel. What's great is that for Beetlejuice, time means nothing in the afterlife, but the world outside is a different story."

That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

Brother.....you and me both.

Sounds awesome actually... I'm all for it if Keaton and Burton are both involved.  Shame that Burton can't (or doesn't want to) direct.
