And people act as if Burton and Co. turned up on the set and started filming, with no plan or prior research.  ::)

I always believed that the writers were the true brains behind the operation of these films. We just don't get to hear feature commentaries with them.

Agreed Kamdan.  If Warner Bros ever release another special edition of Batman Returns I would love to hear a commentary from Daniel Waters at least, if not Waters and Wesley Strick.

Agreed about the writers. On the Extended Editions of the Lord of The Rings, The director/writer commentaries with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Phillipa Boyens were THE best, they were informative AND entertaining.
