'66 Batman Fans Criticize '89 Film

I am a big 60s Batman fan, so I don't want to start a slanging match with those guys ala Nolan. But I will say these users are in no position to be using apparent overt camp and a "hokey looking Gotham" as criticism. Really, it's not worth responding to. A pocket of nit wits not representing the whole, I think.

I thought it was a "news" story when I first read the thread title.  :)

I'm sorta disappointed now that it isn't  :D

I see they, like some Nolan fans, completely missed the point with all that "It was a Joker movie" talking. Burton's Batman was based on the first, darkest year of Batman where, according to Kane himself, Batman and his world was based of horror movies and dracula, and Batman himself was a quiet, menacing phantom. How could such character be the center of the story, be the main character? Was Phantom of the Opera onscreen all the time? No, the tale was told through the girl's eyes. Was Dracula in the book all the time? No. The story was told by Nina, just like in Batman the story is told through Vicky's and Joker's eyes, with Batman being this phantom. I wish they would all read the collection of quotes and the writeup I did about all that - http://gothamalleys.blogspot.com/2011/01/batman-in-movies.html

You can give them all of those examples until you’re blue in the mouth, but it’s just a matter of tastes. Maybe they're not into gothic natures. I did get a good laugh at one of them thinking that the muscle rubber suit was going over the costume, Tommy Lee Jones blowing Jack Nicholson's performance away and enjoying Batman & Robin the most.

I know its about preference, but if thats so, they should say so and not fault the movie for not focusing on Batman when that was the entire point  - to keep Batman as a mysterious phantom. Instead of saying they dont like the Gothic, vampire-ish approach and its not their style, they call the movie mess and continue to poke it for featuring too much Joker

I love the sixties Batman and 66Batman.com is a great site. I'm not a member myself but I often browse the forums for the interesting news and discussions. The people there seem like a nice bunch.
I'm sorry so many of them disliked Batman 89 though. I guess you can't please everyone.

Im trying to get approval there since they may be helpful in my research about West's Batman (decided to write about his take too)

It's the same way others have criticized the show, mainly for its last two seasons. The first season was VERY close to the comics at that time, even going as far as taking storylines from the comics.

What do you need to know? I know all...

Well, I just need links or articles to read, interviews, I wanna have an entire profile supported with quotes, the same way I did profile on Keaton in the link I posted above
