Here's the press release for casting of two roles for The Dark Knight Rises:

"Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan?s ?The Dark Knight Rises.? She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, ?I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.?
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, ?I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman?s most formidable enemies.? Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. ?The Dark Knight Rises? is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company."

Selina Kyle and Bane? Hmmmm......
Why is there always someone who bring eggs and tomatoes to a speech?

The official word is out now that Anne Hathaway will be Selena Kyle/Catwoman.

Hathaway is just too cute for Catwoman. I don't see a crazed look in her eyes that would drive her character to do what she does.

maybe they're leasing the crazy behind?

I can see Hardy as Bane alright.

Hathaway not so much as Catwoman however maybe that is the point.

Remember her in Alice in Wonderland? :-X

I'm very keen on the choice of characters.  It's about time Bane was done properly, and after the cerebral and pyshological threats posed by The Scarecrow and The Joker respectively it will be refreshing to see a more physical threat for Batman to deal with.  I just hope that Bale bulks up again in time for a real 'mano v mano dukeroo'.

However, I am a bit more ambivalent about the casting.  Tom Hardy will make a great physical threat but isn't Bane supposed to be Hispanic?  Also Hathaway as already mentioned seems a bit too sweet and 'cutesy' for a truly sinister and sinuous Catwoman, but I am sure there have been versions of Catwoman in the comic-book that better fit Hathaway's personality.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

Looking forward to seeing Anne as Catwoman. I am SO glad Selina is appearing in this it's not even funny.

Hardy as Bane is an interesting choice. I like Bane and all and consider him a far superior choice than Black Mask, but Bane is always depicted as being imposing and brutish in size. The fact that Hardy has to look up to Christian Bale makes this casting ... unique.

Oh well, After The Dark Knight's approach on both Joker and Two-Face, I'm curious, and looking forward to what Nolan and Goyer have planned for Bane and Catwoman.
