Although he started off as a 'straight' actor notably The Forbidden Planet and as the ship's captain in the original Poseidon Adventure, Leslie Nielsen is arguably best loved for his excellent work in Airplane and the Naked Gun trilogy, back in the day when spoof movies were still (very) funny.

It's sad to hear of his death, particularly as he seemed like one of those actors who would go on making films until he was a hundred.  In any case, he sadly died at the age of 84 and will be missed.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

I feel so bad for Nielsen, He never REALLY got the recognition he deserved.
Why is there always someone who bring eggs and tomatoes to a speech?

I just want to tell you good luck (up there). We're all counting on you.

RIP. Knock 'em dead up there...wait.

This hit me pretty hard.

As a "serious" actor (which I believe he really wanted to be) maybe not...but he certainly received the admiration and affection he deserved from pretty much everyone. I don't know anyone that wasn't saddened on some level by his death - that's not something every actor can claim to evoke.

RIP Leslie...

RIP Mr. Nielsen  :(  :(  :(
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

One of the funniest guys ever, RIP.  ???

Funny, funny guy. R.I.P.

I think being a serious actor helped him. Even when he did his comedy, he acted like he was in a soap opera or a drama. He really invented deadpan comedy.  He truly was one of a kind, I grew up close to where he did (we're not the same age).
