I'm still waiting for Weekend At Barack's III, where somehow Barack gets elected President.  Hillarity ensues.
Fixed.

But I think the key point is that Fox doesn't want to lose the rights to the character. We'll probably hear of a Fantastic Four reboot in a few years for the same reason.

A FF reboot has been discussed as well if I am not mistaken, and yeah ... from a studio standpoint, it makes a great deal of sense to do something with these franchises than to just simply lose them.

Honestly, there's alot of room for improvement as far as these two superhero franchises go, so I'm not especially opposed to it. Despite remake/reboot-palooza generally being very headache inducing.  >:(

Well, so far reboots have had a pretty good track record so it makes sense that more will come our way. When I think "reboot" three movies come to mind:

Batman Begins: Whether you prefer it to Burton or not, there's no denying this film and its sequel resurrected the Batman franchise and took superhero movies to a whole new level.

Casino Royale: Goldeneye aside, Brosnan's Bond films were a joke (albeit very successful ones). By toning down the camp and injecting a sense of realism, this film finally brought Bond into the 21st century.

Incredible Hulk: While I wouldn't consider it on par with a film like Spider-Man 2, this was MARVEL's Hulk, complete with Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. references. While not much more successful than the previous Hulk, I think that has more to do with a crowded summer for Superheroes than it does the film's quality. A sequel is unlikely but it helped set up the Avengers film, which is probably where Hulk will show up next.

Punisher War Zone: This film was pretty close in tone to the hugely popular Ennis run on the book. Stevenson made for a great Punisher. Unfortunately, the script wasn't very good and it was released during the holidays. So Frank Castle won't be coming back anytime soon.

American Pie is now apparently getting a reboot...

...and a National Lampoon's Vacation reboot was announced last week... ::)
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

O.M.F.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That's it!  Hollywood can go **** themselves!!!!

..... OK I take some of that back.  I just read what they are wanting to do which is OK since it is a continuation more than a reboot.

My PC just got a reboot.

;D

In an ideal world that's all that would be rebooted.

I just came in from the snow and removed my clunky footwear only to realize I had to go back out and so "rebooted". ;D
