I heard years ago that Madonna was going to play the Joker's wife. I think Tim Burton could have done a good job with this...... :)

She would probably have insisted on doing the soundtrack...

I heard the rumour too.  Another one was that Harley Quinn was to be The Joker and Alicia Hunt's daughter in the proposed follow-up to Batman and Robin.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

Yea, I just look at Madonna and think she would look really good in the make up with her grin and all...... :)

Not a fan of Madonna, so I'm glad this didn't come to pass.

Another rumor I read somewhere was that Harley Quinn was going to actually be Alicia herself. Since her death was heavily implied, but not actually seen or elaborated upon.

To which I was never crazy about that idea.  >:(

As far as Madonna goes, who knows how that would have turned out. From the moment I read about the rumor, I never was much on the idea of her playing the Joker's wife/Harley Quinn. But at the same time I could why she would be brought up as a contender. Madonna is a very big name in the entertainment industry, and at the time of this rumor (1997-ish?), Evita was still reasonably fresh in the public's mind. Which certainly wouldn't have hurt her if the question of her box office drawing power was being factored in by Warner Bros.

right to that

I never understood this potential casting since Madonna is only two years younger than Jerry Hall.

Pretty sure the Madonna rumours  were for Batman Triumphant. Didn't Harley Quinn get her start in the comics around 1990?

Mind you the 89 script went through massive overhauls so who knows what was once in the plans.

You're right.  Madonna wasn't going to be in th first Batman, but was mootd for Batman Triumphant.  However, my point was that she would still seem too young to b playing Jerry Hall's daughter in such a sequel since they are both about the same age.
