Over the past couple of months, it's been talked about by X-Producers about the possibility of X-Men director Bryan Singer coming back to direct a four. Singer has expressed interest, and now, has confirmed that he's openly talking to Fox about it.

Well, it looks like Bryan Singer may be directing a new "X-Men" movie after all. I found the news here:

While speaking at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea, X-Men-X2 director Bryan Singer stated that he's still interested in returning to the mutant franchise.

"I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise." said Singer. "I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."

Singer said he enjoyed making the films because it was a way to show something socially relevant, but in a fun way. "[I like to] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say."

What do you guys think about it? I know Singer doesn't get a whole lot of love around these parts, but I, for one, enjoyed his X-Films a lot and have been vastly disappointed by X-3 and XMO: Wolverine.

I, for one, am all for it!  I love X-Men and X-Men 2.  I didn't care for X-Men 3 at all and honestly since Singer didn't have anything to do with it, I skipped Wolverine, although I think Hugh Jackman is a very talented man.  I still think there is a ton of stories to be told and I hope if they do go ahead for a fourth movie that we can get past the feeling that these are Wolverine movies and the rest of the X-Men are just along for the ride.  I really hope that Singer and company can tap into some of the energy that the Fox cartoon had from 1990s; because that show, along with Batman: The Animated Series, in my opinion are two of, if not THE two best animated shows ever.  And that's coming from a life long G.I. Joe and Transformers fan.  Enough of the talking, let's get this movie on the big screen now.  I can't wait!

I'd be interested to see him come back, y'know, maybe make a "vague sequel" that ignores X3 and XMOW.  He could start the movie with Scott Summers coming back to the mansion after five years of searching for his family in other parts of the world, only to find that people have moved on without him.  The rest of the movie can center in on Scott finding his place in a world that has learned to live without him.

Hmm, or maybe not...

But seriously, I would like to Singer come back to the X-Men.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Singer's X-Men films.  Singer can be a great dramatic director, but I don't think he can do action (the Statue of Liberty scene in the first film, and Lady Deathstroke/Wolverine fight in the second were either too flat, or featured overally choppy editing in contrast to the Batman or Spiderman films' exemplary action sequences).  Also Singer's last few films are rapidly diminishing the immense appeal he established following The Usual Suspects.  Not to say he's a bad director by any means, but he's certainly one of the most overrated name directors IMO.  Apart from the aforementioned The Usual Suspects I don't think he's made a bona fide great film - Apt Pupil is nowhere near as good an adaptation of one of Stephen King's novellas as The Shawshank Redemption or Stand By Me, Valkyrie was dismissed by most critics, and Superman Returns was enjoyable but not a patch on Richard Donner's Superman films (assuming you include Superman 2 as well).

However, my misgivings with regard to the X-Men films relate to how the filmmakers dramtically changed the characters' origins, so that neither Ice Man, nor Angel were included as part of the original team; even The Beast was only added as an 'original' teammate in Part 3.  Also, the filmmakers seemed to divert too much attention to Wolverine (a relatively newer character), at the expense of the rest of the team, and presumably only because he was a fanboy-favourite.  It's particularly frustrating now that Wolverine has his own franchise.  On the plus side, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan were superb in their respective roles, and arguably transcended their comic-book counterparts.  However, for the most part I would be happy to see a redux of the X-Men series that focuses on the original team dynamic.
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

What about Superman?  :D

x3 sucked. the first two were amazingness. so yes come back

Eh ... if he returns, great. If not, oh well.

I don't hate, nor love his X-Men films. They all have their moments, but they are generally not films I tend to find myself watching all that often ('90's X-Men animated series is a completely different story). So I'm pretty much indifferent on this prospect.

Maybe Singer can go all "wrath of khan" with this franchise instead?  ;D

He's certainly had better success with it.

It's official! Singer signs a deal for 'First Class'

The news is what i had expected all along...that if Singer returned he wouldn't be doing x4, he'd be doing 'first class.' Slightly disappointing as I was hopeful he'd fix the mess that was X3, but I knew it was a situation where the only way to have fixed 3 was to do it over, and once flopped by Ratner, a four would be written in a corner by 3's sweeping murder of previous film's plot-lines.

Anywho. all in all, I'm glad to have him back, and I'm sure he'll do something great.

I only have one request;  NO WOLVERINE! Three X-men films and a spinoff were enough! Let someone else take center stage for a change. How about they let Cyclops actually accomplish something for a change!
