The "Raimi" Spiderman Franchise

Actually, another thing about the goofy Peter stuff is that, again, it works for the character.  Superman went through a similar experience in S3.  He ignored people who needed his help, he "made friends" with a leggy blonde, he got drunk in bars, etc.  I don't think that befits Superman at all.  That shouldn't have been done.

Raimi dodged that trap with "Dark Peter".  Peter was very selfish, he picked fights a little bit, but everything he did was essentially what Peter really wanted to do but without Peter's natural inhibitions.  He simply behaved like a selfish jerk who dances badly.

The strange thing is that aside from Sandman participating in Uncle Ben's death, there's not a bad idea in the whole movie.  The problem is the overabundance of good ideas.

Within that rubric, how many times does a Hollywood summer blockbuster struggle from that particular problem?

I kind of agree with you there, and in fact I even quite like the idea of Sandman being partially responsible for Uncle Ben's death since it adds more complexity to Peter Parker's life, and gives him an interesting basis for turning into a vengeance-fuelled anti-hero.

However, I still think Venom could have been introduced in a much better way.  The symbiote simply lands in Central Park a few yards a way from a genetically mutated superhero.  What the hell...?

Finally, am I the only one who kind of likes Superman 3?   ;)
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

This may not be much of an issue for some of you, but I was really looking forward to Danny Elfman's return for the third installment.  It's a shame that Sam Raimi wasn't getting along with him.  I remember reading somwhere that Danny expressed that he never wanted to work with Sam Raimi again.  Their creative conflict caused Danny to leave and for Chris Young to step in as the new replacement.  I was so dissappointed, because we all know that Danny Elfman writes the best dark music and since Spiderman 3 was all about the dark side.  I think that it would have been awesome to be able to hear Danny  Elfman's dark take on the new villians especially Venom's.

You see thats what i meant i get why alot people like the Travolta dance scene and no its not one of the worst scenes, but because of over doing it on silly scenes the Villains really suffered. Like Sandman was meant to be a huge part of the movie and have the gaint twist of being Bens killer but he ended up having like 15 mins screen time and 200 words, Same thing goes for the symbiote and Venom hell even New Goblin.

And Yeah i like Superman 3.

Quite a noticeable drop off from the previous films, but the junkyard fight scene is .. well ... awesome.

So it's not without merit.  :)
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

I like that Superman 3 does something different as opposed to Lex Luthor going after the land and using kryptonite. Lana Lang was a nice introduction.

As for Spider-man 3,  I enjoy it but notice it's flaws. Here's what I would have done: Make Vulture replace Venom and have the church scene as the final scene in the film. I thought Topher Grace was excellent in the film. Tobey seemed to lose interest. Hopefully going forward Gwen Stacy becomes the focus as opposed to MJ (I think this was the plan).

Lizard has to be one of the next villains.

I SEVERELY disliked Spiderman 3.  I loved part 1. Part 2 was cool. But part 3...maaann.

*Things that destroyed the film for me:

- an overly used up conflicting love plot between peter and mary. ALRIGHT ALREADY!

- Peter is always crying in this film. For any and whatever reason. The dude cries.
There was one scene i cant remember, that when he started to cry, i began laughing out loud and the entire theater actually followed. It was redUNDANT.

- Venom. Why was he played by the skinny nerd from That 70's Show?! Why God? WHyyyyyy...                lol.

- 3 villains in one movie means neither gets a good chance at character development. 2 would have sufficed. Personally, I prefer 1 bad  guy. 1 good guy. PERIOD. Unless you can play it off like Batman Returns did, stick with one please.

- Emo Peter dancing in the streets.  Wearing "guyliner".

The End
(....of the spidey franchise for me)

"Do you like eating in here?"   ...Oh yeah. .. ....   ... ... ...You know to tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever been in this room before.
"hahaeheheh"  You want to get out of here?  "YES."

So you're the guy!

I am a Spider-Man fan. I like all three films and I'm not ashamed one inch. In my opinion, they're a damn sight better than Superman's filmic output.

The worst thing about having so many characters is that it leads to plot contrivances. It would have been so cool if the symbiote came down with Jameson's spaceship. Instead, it just coincidentally appears near the one person in NYC with super powers. And then Peter just happens to shed the symbiote as Eddie is in the church.

ugh.
