Well, Tim's smart. It's either he was using a negotiating tactic by saying, "It's 50-50" at that point in time before the films release, or he could have very well been hinting at the fact that he was well aware that Returns wasnt more of the same that general audiences were likely expecting in 1992, and the chances of another sequel with Burton attached was indeed, 50-50.

Or perhaps it was a subtle hint that a certain coin-flipping maniac might be making an appearance... ;D
