Emailing WarnerMedia about the Snyder cut

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird...it's a plane...well, yes it is, but it's carrying a banner demanding the release of the Snyder cut throughout SDCC 2019. Really, apart from the Watchmen HBO reveal, what else has Warner/DC got to offer this year?



Here is a closer look of the inside right of the bus stop ad, which details the difference between the theatrical cut and the unreleased cut.



The banner was also published as an ad in the latest issue of Hollywood Reporter magazine.



This PR stunt was reported on various blogs and news sites all weekend with a quite objective and rather positive frame of mind, but not everybody was in good spirits. The so-called "feminist" blog The Mary Sue wrote a snarky, condescending article belittling the fans' efforts. But I have no desire to post that site's URL because they don't deserve the traffic, so instead, I'll leave it up to this YouTube video from a non-fan commenting and condemning the article's agenda right here.

Really, one has to wonder how could such a website who prides itself as fighting sexism could make up such slander against Snyder personally, but at the same time, show their appreciation for James Gunn despite the way female characters in his movies are the butt of sexist jokes. Not to mention Gunn's rather well-publicised warped sense of humour towards women. But I guess you can't expect much from these people, they have to turn fans' demand to see the movie as it was intended into a political issue. Shame on them.

The Snyder cut fan community has taken a step further by organising a letter-writing campaign, where fans who want to see the cut are urged to send letters to new Warner CEO Ann Sarnoff. The picture below has instructions on what to do, and which dates to post letters depending on the region you live in.

You know something? I'm going to do it too. And if anybody out there who thinks this is a waste of time, remember, Superman II fans wrote letters asking Warner to restore The Richard Donner Cut, and that film was only 75% complete. If the Snyder cut is "done", as the director himself says then there's no reason why anybody shouldn't demand the release for that movie. Nor should anybody else begrudge them wanting to see it.

I sent my letter earlier during the week.



Who knows if it will make a difference, let alone if Ann Sarnoff will ever bother to read it. But at least I can say "I tried", as the cardboard sign said in the opening credits of the theatrical version of the movie.

Comic book artist Brett Booth, who is a massive MOS and BvS fan, has thrown his support for the Snyder cut by sharing his letter he wrote to Ann Sarnoff. He even offered to draw a cover for the movie's home video release. What a legend!
