The Last Laugh

This is perhaps my second favourite Joker-centric episode. People laughing hysterically while the Joker mugs them is a classic gag, particularly when three men join hands together and dance around in a circle. I love how Joker breaks the third wall while the news broadcaster on the radio starts to laugh - another great scene.

It also has one of the funniest moments with Alfred - where he trashes Wayne Manor with his "spring cleaning". ;D I have one criticism against that scene though: if the gas was instantly poisonous to whoever would breathe it, how come Batman only coughed and was able to put on a gas mask easily, while everybody else was overwhelmed with laughter? Is it a plot hole, or is it "because he's Batman"?  ;)

I may be wrong, but I think this was one in three episodes where Clive Revill voiced Alfred, instead of Efrem Zimbalist.

QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Looking back at a capeless Batman going after the Joker in the last four minutes of this episode. Terrific animation here - Batman's scared face at 41 seconds is priceless.  ;D

Great clip! I love how for the first part of it the only dialogue is Joker laughing and Batman grunting lol. That's all it needed. I loved that whole episode. Silly April Fools jokes are some of my favorites (Alfred "drawing" Bruce's bath  ;D ) and of course Bruce's for Alfred at the very end. My favorite part (one of my fav parts of any Batman epi ever) is when Joker's looking with the periscope and scans past Batman and does a double take, hahaha. My second favorite is where he acts contemplative when Joker screams "You wouldn't let me fry!" I always loved when he shows his kind of sick sense of humor, like when Croc is in traction cause of Bane and not answering Batsy's questions and he's like "Hm, how do these work?"  ;D

I liked the kind of funky music they used at parts too, it was very unique for the show. Sort of sounded like something out of an underground level in a Mario game lol.

And, um, does it make someone a horrible person if they laugh along with the Joker in these episodes (and the other shows Mark did as the Joker, and the video games, and everything else with him)? Asking for a friend. :-[

You'd have to be a boring person if you didn't laugh along with Joker.  :D

I love the fact that this episode was one of few that had Elfman's theme as a cameo.

What I liked about that clip even as a kid was the Joker creepily sitting alone in the dark riding the conveyor belt. It was like he mostly knew what was about to happen. But he was taking a moment to meditate on The Joke, some mysterious concept that only he really understands. There is no past and there is no future; there's only RIGHT NOW and finding the best way to implement The Joke.

Then again, I might've been reading too much into that.
