Gotham should have something particular about it, especially in its architecture. It's a grand city that has a wonderful history and incorporates various styles in its design and layout. Burton and Co. did this brilliantly for the '89 film and hoping to see something more in line with that.

Rocksteady too, they also got what makes Gotham great. They could easily go the "gritty" route and make the city generic looking. They went the extra mile to make it a visual treat.

Agreed, I also hope the new movies follow suit.

I'll be honest: as long as the characters are allowed to stand out as being close to their comic counterparts as possible,
I won't even mind that Gotham still looks more realistic following the Gothic approach.
QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Good point. When it comes to Batman, a serious deviation from the mythos could be a problem for many fans. Gotham, itself, is also a character in the comics and on film and hopefully it has some defining qualities in the way it looks and its citizens in the upcoming Dawn of Justice and future DC films.
