I found this rare clip of the oscars for Batman with Anton Furst and Peter Young receiving the oscar for Best Art Direction.  Hope you all enjoy.

Anton Furst got a little carried away there. "Peter's over there", "I'm here with you!", "Oh yeah!".  :D

Kim Basinger looked restless.

Did Glenn Close and Mel Gibson stay up late all night in England just announce the winner for only one category?  ::)
QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Batman was a cultural phenomenon, as Burton said, AND a great movie.

Ah the 90's. When the Oscar's were a damn sight more fun to watch. When so many fantasy pictures were deservedly honored and not exploited for viewers of later ceremonies that are drowning in sea's of pretentiousness.

As Peter Young says he takes no credit for the Award believing it is Anton and Tim. I think it's a shame Burton never got anything (did he?) for his work on Batman. Richard Donner got the Superman statue from Jerry Siegel. Did nobody give Tim anything?

Just can't believe what happened to Anton Furst. Barely a year after this the man chose to commit suicide. What a legacy he left. A legacy he never quite knew to become as iconic as it now is.
