The last movie he directed might've been straight to DVD. Doesn't seem to be doing anything else, he might've entered retirement for all we know.

He's closing in on 80 years old. He's had a pretty good career. Retirement under those circumstances isn't a bad thing.

His last three films (Town Creek, twelve, tresspass) were all flops. His last profitable film was Phone Booth 15 years ago.

Sadly the Batman films killed his career. It is apparent from any of his films from the past 20 years that he clearly tried to prove he can do dark and serious and as a result, lowered the entertainment value of his film.
