It looks like the rumors may be true.

Hollywood trade The Wrap is reporting that actor Adam Driver, 29, is in the running to play Dick Grayson/Nightwing in the upcoming movie, in which he has apparently had a falling-out with Ben Affleck's Batman:

This would further distance this interpretation from the Nolan trilogy, which used John Blake as a composite character instead of Grayson.

(Interesting to note: Driver is about a year younger than Superman actor Henry Cavill.  Cavill's Superman claimed to be 33 in Man of Steel, though, which is older than the actor's real age, but it is interesting that in this interpretation, Clark will be closer in age to Dick Grayson than he is to Bruce Wayne.
That awkward moment when you remember the only Batman who's never killed is George Clooney...

This movie sounds better and better all the time. It makes perfect sense to have Nightwing and Bat family in existence given the stage of Batfleck's crime fighting career. We haven't had this type of Batman on screen before.

What I'd like to know is this movie going to be more of a crossover, or is it a direct sequel to Man of Steel? Because if it is supposed to be a sequel, then it should be a Superman-centric film, with Batman et al as supporting characters. If it is more like a crossover, then I can see why they would potentially introduce Nightwing, Wonder Woman and Flash. I'll wait when things are confirmed.
QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.

Quite clearly it is a sequel to Man of Steel which features Batman and other characters. Man of Steel is the foundation for the continuity.

I didn't realise until about 2005 how much fans hate Robin. I mean really hate him. From Tim Burton to even Eric Radomski and Christian Bale. I for one have always loved the character. I think the best way to handle him is what the animated series did, exclude him from some, have him in others.

What excites me about this news (against the judgement of others I guess) is it'll take me back to the exciting days of Batman Forever when Robin finally appeared on the big screen. And man did that excite me as a child. Despite what fans say they did Robin quite well in that movie, even having the patience to save him for the very end. I think that built the audiences expectations throughout and exploded it all in the great finale. There has been a huge gap in the series since he last appeared played by Chris O' Donnell in 1997. Now the time has come to bring him back. I've always supported what O' Donnell did with the character. It may take me a while to get used to this new guy having grown up mostly with Chris' portrayl but this is just wonderful news. It shows the bravery to make things different this time.

Just a slight nag. I have never really liked the Nightwing persona. To me Dick Grayson will always be Robin. Why he ditched the sharp looking "R" symbol for the blue bird logo is beyond me lol But since his Robin incarnation was done so well in Batman Forever perhaps it's time to do something new with him this time. And they were gonna turn him into Nightwing eventually back in the nineties anyway.

The problem is that the only time Robin was ever portrayed properly in live action was Batman Forever. Aside from that he was goofy. in the Adam west show and Batman and Robin. Nightwing can still be dark and serious (as can Robin but Nightwing is similar to batman).

Sorry but I don't think this guy looks like Robin:
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

Other pics of him are more flattering but yes, he doesn't look the part. (and... he's as tall as Ben Affleck)
