From a technical standpoint, most of that works pretty good. The bat signal stuff esp is the big winner with the enhancements he and his team made.

Still, I do object to the Special Edition philosophy the YouTuber seems to be subscribe to where he assumes that WB should have "corrected" those things. The new color timing and the new sound mix may be legitimate criticisms. But WB shouldn't have to justify not changing certain matte paintings or model shots or whatever.

Agreed.

I mean, I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be interested in checking this project out, but my mindset for this would be what it was for the Star Wars Special Editions back in 1997 on VHS. As long as we have a choice between the original, and a SE like this, that's fine. When it comes to alterations being implemented with the standard viewing experience for the foreseeable future because it's deemed an "improvement", is where it becomes too much of a slippery slope. The physical 4K release of B89, and it's dubious choice to leave out the original sound mix was a deal breaker for me. As I have zero desire to see original theatrical cuts of movies slowly fade from memory, only mentioned as "Extras"/Bonus Content", to whatever the director, and/or studio prefers at that point in time to substitute several years later (like with what's going on with The Godfather Part III right now).

Same, I like that this film is reflective of the analogue time that it was made in. I'm not huge of it being cleaned up to be more modern.
