Well a long dormant childhood dream just came true for me. It seems the purple one who gave Jack Nicholson the funk is coming to Liverpool, my home city, for the first time ever (very very soon in fact). In a stripped down experimental tour called "Prince Spotlight: Piano and a microphone".

Off to see Madonna with my family this December 14th and what is most strange is I literally was wishing this Prince announcement just a few short days ago as my next preferred "legend to see". Can it be that I "seen the future and it will be?" lol

I would prefer seeing him also play those very extravagant guitars but this is clearly an opportunity not to pass up. Wanna bet "Scandalous" finds it's way into that set? He's played it a few times recently and it would be a perfect choice for a piano number. The battle for tickets in on! And cue "Partyman"....

That's awesome news!  I hope you do get a chance to see him play.

I was fortunate to see Prince play in London, on three separate occasions, during his 2007 Earth Tour.  :)
Johnny Gobs got ripped and took a walk off a roof, alright? No big loss.

Given that he and Madonna will be touring the UK so close to each other soon part of me wishes he'd have time to join her for a long overdue live performance of her underrated song "Keep It Together" (a song sadly missing still from her set-list that I was surprised and delighted to discover Prince performed guitar duties on the same year as his Batman work).

Interestingly I've just found fairly rare footage from Prince's 1990 Nude Tour. The only tour in which he played a substantial amount of his Batman album. In the link below you can see his live performances of both Batdance (complete with Bat-signal emblem and dancers in full Joker tail coat costume getup, clearly something that inspired the yellow coated Dick Tracy dancers in Madonna's Blond Ambition tour) and Partyman (which not only features "black and white, red and green" Joker-esque colored smoke effects but also a really cool blend of the song into a rendition of Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" and surprisingly it works!) from about the 63 minute mark. The Future is also included in this show but the clip seems to be missing the beginning footage. Prince even dons a pair of moody Michael Keaton shades! lol
