Who else thinks of the animated show as a semi-spinoff of the Burton movies yet more true to the comics, you can tell with the influence of Burton's movies from the design of the city with it's surrealism to all the way to Selina Kyle and Penguin's designs on the first 3 seasons you can see how.

The Burton films were indeed influential, and fundamental to TAS.

I think either Bruce Timm or Paul Dini has even stated as such. Without the Burton films, TAS would have never got the go ahead. Definately not in the form we all know and love anyways.
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

Without a doubt. A beautiful legacy to leave behind.

Nice info and i'm sure Timm was forced to make Selina and Penguin look like their movie counterparts
