Just got pointed out this this documentary shown on German TV in 1989 covering the phenomenon.
Nearly 25 minutes of unique footage, probably never aired outside of that broadcast.

Good find! Really gives you a sense of how big Batmania was at the time. It would have been nice to have an English edition.

I watched it when you first posted it.  I apologize for not leaving a comment.   It is indeed a rare find and a very interesting look at the impact the film had on pop culture.
