anyone else feel like these movies feel awfully alike? not like they copied returns. i mean that they have the same emotional roller coaster and the same winless ending.

I think both films have the best love interests in their respective universes (Selina in Burtonverse, Andrea Beaumont in the Timmverse), and yeah both end on a somber note as both films conclude with Bruce going on without his potential "match".


Being that TAS was brought about due to the Burton films, it only makes sense that they have some similarities. With Returns, the stuff between Bruce & Selina, Oswald romancing Gotham, and his bid for Mayor, and anything with Shreck is just entertaining as hell. With Phantasm, all the back story/Pre-Batman days with Bruce and Andrea is gold, as well as some great action sequences and not to mention the big reveal in exactly what is the Joker's connection to the Valestra mob.

phantasm is THE best batman movie. if it had been live action everyone would be like "who is christian bale?" lol.

If Mask of the Phantasm had been live-action it might have been my all-time favourite Batman film.

I think you can draw some parallels considering Catwoman and the Phantasm are both costumed semi-villains as well as love interests. But I think it's coincidental.
