I've been listening to the Batman (1989) soundtrack again lately, and it is still my favourite. I very seriously doubt this Batman sound will ever be topped. It is just too good. That said, I do love TDK's soundtrack, especially the WSS track.
Its funny because I love the whole TDk soundtrack except I dont really fancy the WSS track that much. I agree though the 89 score will never be beat in anyway to me, it will always be the best.
What don't you like about WSS?

I do like it, but I like the rest of the soundtrack much better, its a cool change for a comic book film and a good theme, perfect for the bank heist.

I have given a name to my pain, and it is BATMAN.

Fair enough.

I consider the Elfman 89 and Returns soundtracks to be the equivalent of the John Barry 1960s Bond soundtracks. But thing is, Elfamn could have just done the 89 soundtrack, and that would have been enough. It's all there. It is just the sound of the character, and simply cannot be topped.

I really dont know anyone in the world that would disagree with you! :P

Elfman's music really should be used again in a future installment. It's seriously that good, and it fits Batman's world superbly.

The only thing that has the possibility to better or equal those other two, is if Elfman scores another Batman film in the same style.

I dunno about that, I'm sure there are some Nolanites out there who prefer those scores.  Try not to hate them; simply pity them.

As for the scores, B89's score is great.  I dig it and I'll never leave it, right?  But the thing is (to me, anyway) the BR score is just BETTER.  The BR music felt like it gelled more with BR than the B89 score did for B89.  It was better incorporated and I liked the themes/motifs more in BR.  Not taking anything away from B89's score (which is a masterpiece, imho) I simply prefer BR, both as a score and as film.

Maybe so, but when the 89 score is isolated and listened to by itself, away from the film, it is outstanding. It's not bad in the film really, either.

Ehh as much as I love Elfmans batman scores, they belong in the past, with the source material it fits with perfectly. Re-hashin stuff is boring.

Agreed. Leave these two scores as a cherished memory.
