The sneak peek seems to have been very well received on social media. Lots of discussion, lots of (ugh) reaction videos and so forth.

Lots of engagement, basically. Which is good. Because the last time people talked about Superman in large numbers, it was to make fun of Cavill's mustache removal in Whedon's Justice League. This time, the discussion has been a lot more positive.

Also, the Fortress robots do a lot to reinforce the All-Star Superman vibe the film seems to be aiming for. Seems like each time a new piece of media comes along, the All-Star influence becomes more apparent.

This is shaping up to be a movie that people look like they're invested in.

I like that Fortress. The general aesthetic of the Reeve version but a lot more advanced inside. It should be Superman's version of the batcave, full of advanced technology and items from across the galaxy, and that's the direction they're going. Pretty cool to see the S shield on the front door - that's pure comic book right there.

Here are some variant covers featuring Corenswet's Superman.

A couple of things that have been raised elsewhere that I agree with: I don't know the context of this new scene but Snyder's Superman took a nuke at point blank range and healed from the sun without feeling any pain. Just being in the sun should be enough to heal. The giggling robot that says "he looked at me!" after another just said they have no consciousness at all is an instant contradiction. It could work out better than III, IV and Returns, but I still need to be convinced this will set the box office on fire.

I understand your concern. But I've wanted a movie/television Fortress for a long time that functioned as the Pre-Crisis comic book version was meant to function.

For better or worse, Donner reimagined the Fortress less as Superman's getaway/home away from home and more as a mausoleum for Krypton. And that conception of the Fortress has endured to ever increasing levels since.

Gunn's Fortress seems like it's a lot more in line with the Pre-Crisis Fortress with all the exotic tech and robots running around.

I'm willing to give Gunn's Superman a chance. I don't think I "need" it. But I do want it if it turns out to be good. And the overall reaction online seems to be largely positive.

I think Jimmy sincerely missed a golden opportunity with this, in simply casting himself as Superman. The long and short of the campaign thus far, has amusingly been just as focused on him (if not more), as it has been the actual title character.

Speaking of branding, is it too late to have his name above the title? I'm thinking, "Why not?" at this point.
"Imagination is a quality given a man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humour was provided to console him for what he is."

It's the same situation with the Batcave. So many movies, yet we've never seen the giant penny or dinosaur. The closest any live action depiction has come to the wackiness of the comic book Batcave would be the Adam West show, and I'm sure Dozier would have included the dinosaur and penny in that series if he'd been able to. But every other live action version of the cave has opted for a more grounded take, where it's basically just the Batcomputer, the armoury and the Batmobile workshop. Hopefully the next cinematic Batcave will break that trend.

With the Fortress, I'd love to see some of the more traditional comic book elements make an appearance. The statues of Lara and Jor-El, the Phantom Zone projector, bottled Kandor, the zoo of endangered aliens. Earlier in this thread we speculated about Solaris making an appearance, which seems very plausible given the obvious Grant Morrison influence. If Solaris does show up, that would present the perfect opportunity to reference the zoo and have Superman use a Sun-Eater to defeat the Tyrant Sun.

At any rate, I like the way the robots look in this footage. They're like Frank Quitely's designs come to life.
